if i was betting man i would not touch this fight cuz it can ether way. Mosley speed and decent power and his movement and his multiple combos and his experience is quit scary. for me as a cotto fan.hopefully cotto can pull it off. but its to close to call.
I expect for yet a little while longer the core of Mosley to remain unbroken, be overrun or staggered by the one-man tornado that is supposed to come blasting across, even if the dirty tricks and kicks in the crotch are "allowed". Shane may be stirred into fast-paced motion but one performs any action which he's familiar with and Shane is a long way from being stupid or a piece of precious china - he's muscular, defined, strong and still enthusiastic about his boxing - nothing like Cotto is overwhelmingly stronger so that he can make Shane suck up air and want no more of that like Diaz vs Diaz or Hatton vs Castillo, nothing like Cotto is that intense and Shane that weary so that it's not gonna be either one out there before long or a one-sided affair like Pacquiao-Barrera or Povetkin-Byrd, nothing like the veteran would be likely to be outfought against a younger gun like Mayweather-Hoya, Margarito-Williams...But if there's one fight that comes up in my mind that is once 36 year old Bernard Hopkins against previously undefeated, Rican puncher Trinidad in MSG, NYC, after 9/11 in 2001... Those other paralells make no sense in the same exact magnitude as JC vs Kessler and BHop vs Tarver/Winky patterns don't, compared to Shane's task n case. I say and will until Sat nite that Miguel Cotto came as near to wrecking his enterprise of being the best welterweight in da world for good, and I sh'd smile n kiss a pig if it don't please you good n hard.
Cottos slow starts make me think this could be an early night. If he makes it past the 6th he will probably ko Mosley into retirement but I predict a 3rd rd KO by Mosley
Mosely age a factor yes, but he still has his power , and still has more then enough speed, experience and he know how to finish a fighter once he has them hurt , something cotto other victims did not know how to do . Also if you take into account the fact Cotto get hit way too much , and Zab did more then just touch Cotto and IMO Shane is more then of a fighter then Zab at his present age now at 36.. this fight is 50/50 but Im leaning more towards shane.
KO mosely ?!? even though Mosely has never been KOed or stopped his entire career .. and even if it makes past the 6th mosely knows how to fight in the later rounds.
Shane is the man. Shane wins this fight. I'm not predicting how, because its so close, but Shane wins.
The big question here is exactly how far decline Mosley is. If he's slipped more than his recent fights have indicated, this could happen. On the other hand, if Mosley is even close to his best, he has significant skill and size advantages over Cotto - and Cotto's punch resistance, although better than it was at Jr. Welter, is still a question. I think Mosley does have enough left to make the difference, and if I am right, I think he's gonna stop Cotto late. Consider THAT marked!:yep
This fight has similarities to Hoya/Floyd, Calzaghe/Kessler and also Hopkins/Taylor The unknowns are: How will Cotto be able to take Mosleys shots, and will he be able to recover from being hurt against a seasoned vet and one of the most skillfull fighters alive? Has Mosley's stamina been overrated by the Collazo fight....due to Collazo's refusal to do ANYTHING in that fight? Cotto had trouble with Zabs speed while Zab threw...is Shane as fast as Zab? How hungry is Cotto? How hungry can Shane possibly still be? Is Cotto really elite? Zab, while very skilled, is weak mentally and nowhere near the complete fighter that Mosley is. This will tell us. God-****ing-Christ this fight is exciting the **** out of me!!! Can it just start already???? :happy :happy :happy :happy
