I now a lot of people have this fight as close, but I don't. Cotto is not the type of boxer that moves like Trout/Lara. He also tends to bend over and put a lot of his weight on his front foot which stops you from slowly and methodically backing up with counters (iedoesn't increase your capacity to stay the **** off the ropes as the smaller guy). I see Canelo who I hate, winning this stylistic matchup. Cotto WILL be there to be hit and countered

Looks like you are expressing your worst fears...!

Fear not my friend...all is well. I have it on good authority that its pretty much been decided already that Opie is in for a starching on the 21st....!

Been saying it since it was signed, Canelo will win handily.

Does'nt matter the style or tempo the fight is in. Canelo outbrawls or outboxes Cotto and does it handily.

A lot of posters are of the thinking that Cotto is a better boxer, I don't believe that, but even if he were, Cotto will still have to deal with a fighter that will be quicker and faster than he on the trigger.
That will be the difference, and when Canelo starts easily beating Cotto to the punch from mid to long distance, Cotto will have no choice but to try to take it to the inside and see what he can do.
That's when Canelo will commence the beatdown of strong hooks to the head and body.

For such a fight that many feel will be close, I see it as Canelo having a 90% chance of winning.

Canelo also bigger. If Cotto can't create angles he's going to be stuck brawling a bigger, younger guy. Not good.

Canelo can't cut off the ring to save his life, Cotto should keep on the move, seeing as he's smaller, lighter and quicker

Canelo is 2 inches taller and has almost a 4 inch reach advantage on Cotto, that makes it extremely difficult for an older Cotto to have to deal with, especially when Canelo is quicker and faster on the trigger than he is.

One thing is to run circles laterally on a slower or handicapped fighter and another is to do it on a physically capable fighter who's quicker, faster, and bigger than you are.

Cotto is not quicker, the Trout fights with the respective fighters proved it for me.

Trout is a completely different fighter than Canelo

also don't forget, Cotto wasn't on the latest shakes available back then, now he's with Roach :deal

And what will you do if when Canelo stops Cotto? That's right you'll come up with yet another lame excuse as to why Cotto had a "bad night" or "off performance". Because with you Cotto maniacs, its never because Cotto just isn't that good and lost to the better man. Is it Pato?

Cotto has the better footwork and the better jab by a margin. You don't always have to be the faster guy to box circles around.

Yes, Cotto will get f4cked up. Canelo will get a very questionable decision with one of the cards being totally off.

Cotto has better footwork than Joshua Clottey, Antontio Margarito, Austin Trout and Shane Mosley. Yet they had no problem landing on him at will. Cotto on his best day isn't as fast or elusive as Erislandy Lara, and Canelo landed on him enough for him to get on his bicycle.

Lara can't crack an egg with his punches though. He'll have to think twice when he's trying to close the gap and watch out for the left hook.
