When Floyd fights so called "B" Level fighters you guyz here on the forum criticize him to no avail because he doesnt destroy them. When Cotto fights the same tier competion, all I hear is PRAISE and Elevation, when the reality is both men are doing what they are supposed to be doing: beating their competition in the format that best suits their style. Cotto is a Boxer Puncher with great power and Floyd is a RINGMASTER. FMJ has brittle hands and we all know this. He is not known for KOing his opponents but just out classing them in every aspect. Cotto is the opposite. Lets be objective here and really be objective. Floyd has already fought the a bigger stronger fighter, DeLaHoya. Even though I will admin DLH is past his prime, DLH was/is stronger and bigger. FMJ has already fought a faster guy in Judah...uh...at least for the first four rounds. FMJ has already fought a wrestler (Not the Big Show) but Hatton. Who did continue to use his body to try to out will Floyd and ended up being KO'ed.

Now people lets be honest name one person on Cotto's resume that will do the following:

Present an extremely effective defense that most say is one of the best in the game
Present an offense that will definitely challange his heart
Bring to the table a fighter in his prime (Sugar didnt count)
Present Cotto with Unrivaled boxing skills
    Thorough ring generalship...and I mean...GENERALSHIP
Effective punching (Floyd has never wasted punches)
    and most importantly
Complete and I mean complete in fight assessment and adjustment.

Even if you hate Floyd you must realize that he is the smartest fighter alive. Every fight he has been in has been about knowing your opponent and making the adjustment to win the fight. Yeah Cotto's jab was beyond belief, but since Castillo 1, what fighter has executed a consistent plan against FMJ that he didnt adjust to and thoroughly whup his opponents tail?

Lets all be fair. Cotto doesnt have a better resume that FMJ. Be honest. And I've seen him fight his chin has been rocked a few times...so my point is stop letting your hate for FMJ make you elevate Cotto when technically they are both doing the same thing: beating "B" level opponents until they meet in the ring.

Try to answer this post as a boxing fan: not a COTTO or MAYWEATHER fan. If you do that your own post just might make some sense

Because there is nonstop ridiculous DOUBT about how good of a fighter Cotto really is!!! Its obvious that NO ONE has faith in Cotto's abilities as a boxer. I have believed in his ability as a superstar quality boxer since I saw him fight with under 10 bouts. Cotto is obviously the real deal he is one of the best boxers in boxing today. HOPEFULLY with this ass kicking he gave Gomez it will slap the doubters into reality and make them realize that Cotto isn't just a ****ing bum. And it further proves that Floyd vs Cotto is the only fight that matters in boxing today!..And if Cotto goes on to fight Margarito and handily beats the **** out of Margarito like he did to Gomez than what else can the man do? Cotto is clearly the #1 skilled fighter to deserve a fight with Floyd. THIS IS INDISPUTABLE!!

Cotto does not have a better overall resume than Mayweather.

Cotto does have a better Welterweight resume than Mayweather, and is also looking to make meaningful fights in the division, unlike Mayweather.

Resumes don't mean ****. Watch Cotto's fights at welter, then watch Floyd. That's all that matters. And if you can't at least see how Cotto would be the biggest test in Mayweather's career, then keep rewatching.

Mosley and judah presened to the offense to challenge his heart, and torres did also by landing that brutal punch.

Paulie had really good boxing skills

Floyd DOES NOT have ring general ship. i think Cotto's is much better.

Cotto doesnt waste punches either. they are even.

I think they are equally smart fighters.

Floyds only true advantage over Cotto is speed in my opinion b/c they are both very intelligent fighters. Neither folds under pressure. they both have always stuck to their game plan without ever losing focus. Both have been into deep waters (Cotto slightly deeper)

I agree but most people looking to make better fights doesnt make them a BETTER fighter. Shane wanted to make a better fight with Forrest and he got smashed twice. Now does that mean Cotto is better or more admirable than Floyd because he wants to fight all takers? I just dont buy that. Gomez was not a better fight. Thats who he was told to fight. If Cotto is eager, let him fight Clottey (which no one wants a piece of) or even Berto. Now that would be a BARNBURNER for sure.

Wowwwwwwww!! Barnburner by fighting Clottey or Berto. Clottey is wayyyy overrated. he is very similar to N'dou in my opinion. he is a tough but very limited fighter. Berto is just wayyyyyy to young right now. he still needs at least 2-3 years to be mentioned just yet.

    EXACTLY:good

The first time i saw Cotto in his 7th pro fight i new he would be a superstar!!

He is out and out quality, the difference in Cotto and Mayweather when fighting Blevel opponents is Cotto does a demo job on them whilst Mayweather doesnt.

Dont get me wrong im not bashing Mayweather......he is quality but there is a reason why he wants to fight De La Hoya and Hatton again and not Cotto!

Plus, Mayweather says his best win is De La Hoya, well if thats the case Cotto has a better best win in Mosley!! Cotto has paid his dues and deserves a fight with Mayweather

Does that mean Cotto is better? Nopes!

Reason why almost all boxing fans are pushing for that fight to happen . . . so we can see who's better . . . except for the Floyd NUTHUGGERS APOLOGISTS . . . who's moving heavens and earth trying to justify Floyds cowardness.

    More admirable? Yes! Definitely!

If you think otherwise then you're a Floyd NUTHUGGER yourself. :yep :D

You're exactly right. Its call money. Lets see 8 mil for Margarito or accept and criticism and fight DLH whom you all thought was too big for 30 mil and Hatton whom most thought was too rough for 20.

My friend, as a "boxing fan" I will now ask YOU the same question, name ONE fighter that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has fought which posseses ALL of those same attributes that your questioning in Cotto's resume??? That's right..........NONE!

Yes i know Floyd is more interested in the money and its a ****ing shame for us boxing fans.

I dont think De La Hoya at this stage in his career will be able to do anything different to beat Mayweather, the only way Hatton has a chance is if Floyd goes to 140 (which wont happen).

Cotto is a live in his prime fighter who will force Floyd to fight and to be honest i dont think Floyd is an allout fighter anymore.
