Floyd and Cotto are my two favorite fighters. I doubt Floyd is scared of Cotto but when he talks about going for big money fights I can see how this comes off as ducking. I think the are pretty evenly matched. While Cotto no doubt has the power edge I think Floyd can negate it, to a certain extent, with his speed and defensive ability. As for xviiixvi and jlrivera81 I also think they are evenly matched in ring generalship. They both do pretty much what they want in the ring and make their opponents fight in a style that will be of most benefit to them.
I agree but the days of fight or die are gone buddy! The Muhammad Ali's and the Nigel Benns of this boxing era are gone and really think about it why should there be? I know its boxing, but in this day and age, its all about business. We all know Floyd did call out Shane and he said his tooth was hurting. And when Cotto was less experienced, Floyd called him out too and Arum wanted no part of that because truth be told, that Cotto would've got knocked out and we wouldnt be having this discussion right now. This is a sport and we are fans but at the end of the night todays fighter realize that its a business and they got mouths to feed. There will be no more SRR that fight 200 fights and dont even have life prepared for after boxing. The culture is ruining boxing, but what can you do, be upset because Floyds wants to keep making 20 mil per fight? The most guaranteed to both fighters now is 12 to 15. FMJ wants 20. Until he loses, it his show.
Money is a very convinient excuse boiii. There are times in a fighters' career that they have to stand up for their names and prove to the world that they indeed deserve their titles. If Hatton vs PBF came out as $20 Mil . . . I'm sure Cotto vs PBF would be worth $25 Mil. Problem is . . . PBF is completely avoiding a formal talk or negotiation by declaring retirement and all these bullshits. If people cannot see the obvious . . . then something must be seriuosly wrong with their brains.
I'm still new to watching boxing so I didn't know it was that bad and used as a excuse. Still I don't think fighters get to the top and are scared of fighting anyone. I might be wrong and I think there are a couple guys that would give Floyd all he can handle and might even beat him (Cotto, Margarito and Mosely). If by scared you mean doesn't want to lose his 0 then I agree he is probably scared and rightfully so. Again I'm new so I'm still learning how it all works. Sorry for my ignorance but it is getting better I promise.
