The first rule of fighting is always, always stack the odds in your favour, and Cotto sure did that here. Daniel Geale had to starve his way down to 157 pounds. There's no other way to describe it. In the final 24 hours Geale had no food whatsoever. He spent the final 36 hours before weigh in taking hot baths with epsom salts, chewing gum, taking in very limited food and small sips of water. It's a bloody wonder Geale didn't pass out on the scales!
If Geale said he felt fine he's a hypocrite too then :rofl Because after spending the final 36 hours taking hot baths with epsom salts, chewing gum, eating very limited food and only having sips of water, Geale could not possibly be feeling fine!
Cotto never complained, shook Flomos complained. Then Floyd cheated Marquez and Canelo on the scales. They used to complain about Ariza too, then Floyd hired him. He, like they, have no shame.
I hope Cotto move down in weight after this fight. But doubt it now that the WBC is pushing the fight with Canelo at 160. At 154lbs I would favor Cotto even if Cotto is the champ at middleweight.
