The *******s are gonna eat him alive even if he KOs pacman. So will everyone else who hasnt been giving him credit in his career. He is a fighter who others will always **** on. If he beats Pacman, then Pacman was too small, over hyped and going way out of his league to fight Cotto. If he loses, then he was over hyped and his career may be in question. Boxing fans suck.
Ok, well then how do you see it? Because most people already agree Pacquiao is in a different league at equal size. Who would you pick in a matchup of a 130 lb. Pacquiao and a 130 lb. Cotto?
Kind of like Mayweather; when your good your always going to have your haters. Only difference, Cotto fights who he should be fighting at welterweight. This is a money fight he deserves, but still very competitive. He is the underdog?
Can't be a lose-lose if he's poised to earn a career high payday and a chance to really elevate his name if he's able to win.
Cotto will receive the biggest paycheck of his career fighting a smaller guy . . . who will pass off that opportunity? Cotto will receive his due props and respect if he beats Pacquiao irregardless what the *******s says. I think you are getting carried away by the forum. :think
It goes both ways If Pacquiao wins he beat a weight drained Cotto If Pacquiao loses then his wins over 130 are in questioned Boxing fans suck.
I've said before that Pacquiao would deserve a lot more credit for winning than Cotto would. I'm sorry, but that is just the way I see it. Cotto is the naturally bigger and stronger man, and has fought at the weight his entire career. Also, Cotto, has handled guys who are also much bigger than Pac. He beat Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, and Josh Clottey, so think about it. How much credit does he really deserve for beating a guy much smaller than them? I'm a Pacquiao fan, and I tell, you, I don't like this fight. I think Cotto was more or less shoved down Pacquiao's throat. Freddie Roach knew this could be trouble, that's why he wanted the catch weight. I also think Roach is still a bit unsure. Cotto is making it out like he is the one who has the huge mountain to climb, but the mountain isn't nearly as high for him as it is for Pac. Keep in mind that I'm basing all this on Cotto's size, power, and ability to fight through adversity, not on overall boxing talent.
Your completely right.... but heres the thing, when Cotto wins.... reality is that majority of 'experts' picked him to lose, and hes the betting underdog, and i think most fans (outside the hardcore ones) believe pac will win too, and many are predicting a sensational KO win for pac. When Cotto wins, history will look back and will have to face the facts he was the underdog. As for him only winning because hes bigger.... that can only be said after the fight, when cotto wins because he times pac, uses his jab effectively, and mixes offensive output into an effective body and head attack, that has nothing to do with size, that is called skill. but who cares anyways? Cotto fights big guys as well.... cotto fights everyone just about, and hes 28, so he has time to get to everyone hes left out. Part of history is the champion defeating the smaller great fighter coming up to challenge him, the question is not just is the champion big enough to win, but is he good enough to win. People act like cotto is going to win this fight JUST because of his size.... imo, thats lack of boxing knowledge. Yes... Cotto wont get much credit for this fight, but his reward for this fight will be big big exposure, a large payday, a win in the biggest fight of his career thus far (many fighters lose their biggest fights and that gets counted against them) and will make him a bigger draw (hopefully) with hopefully enough luster to entice a certain non entity within the welterweight division to come out of hiding and fight him.
Excellent point. Mayweather beat JMM with skill, not size, even though he was the bigger man, and probably could have used his size, and got a knockout. But Cotto ain't Mayweather, and he can't do what Mayweather does, and I'm damn sure he won't be trying to use "tactics" to beat Pacquiao. Cotto seems like he has something to prove, so I'm willing to bet he is going to be trying to take Pacquiao's head off.
when you fight a guy who is naturally significantly smaller than you are, as Manny is, then of course, if you win, folks are going to say the other guy was too small. If Cotto moved up and challenged Pavlik and lost they would say the same thing.
Who was the one that issued the fight? Pac and team or Cotto and team? How can Cotto be 'shoved' down Pacs throat when Pac can fight just about anyone he wants from 130-147.... he didnt have to accept the fight when he was at the clottey fight SCOUTING cotto in the first place. Its not like Cotto challenged him, and nobody would have held it against pac for not fighting at welterweight again. This is totally on Pac and team. Cotto is the one that has to put up with the talk as if hes some second rate fighter that Pac is going to abuse, as if Cotto is some shmuck there to be beaten. Nov 14th will be a sweet sweet day
