Cotto is still the same fighter. When you face top welterweights your not gonna always look good. It sickens me when I read that he's not the same. Clottey is a good fighter. He has that Ghana defense so your not gonna just blow him out.
Whoever says he's shot is an idiot, Cotto fought as he usually does, only a bit more screwed up because of the cut.
Clottey look massive compared to Cotto - his arms were nearly twice as thick come fight night! All credit to the champ for going the distance and winning especially with that cut. He's definitely not shot but faced a very tough (and very large) competitor last night and outclassed him.
Cotto need a new trainer. FACT. Cotto was not confident like his other previous fight (Cuz of the cut probably, i agree). FACT. Cotto need to loose that bad habit, stick to the rope when he's hurt. FACT
A new trainer won't be able to change much at this point, just improve his defense is what can be tweaked. Apart from that Cotto is what he is.
Fact of the matter is that this website and others like Scene of Boxing, are very anti Cotto. People say Mayweather is the most hated, from what I had read on here and over there for the last week leading up to this matchup is that Cotto was going to be destroyed. Literally. That was every thread on here. And over there. HE is the most hated man in boxing from what I have been reading, not Mayweather. Most of the criticism of Mayweather is that he won't fight the best opponents, he's a runner a chicken, that's tame stuff. What I've been reading here and over there leading up to and from last night about the fight was some of the most vile, ugly things I've read. Cotto is the most hated boxer on this forum and they really want him to lose, so that's why they get ultra-aggressive against him. It's mainly from blacks, mexicans, a certain segment of the european population, now filipinos have joined that group. He's is triple-quadruple teamed by these groups. That is extreme hatred. I don't think he is shot at all, the cut seemed to strain him and take a good deal of energy from him but he did the best that he could under extreme circumstances. That cut was Vitali-Klitschko-esque, very deep but Vitali's was obviously more severe.
