His game plan was perfect, he moved beautiful, he boxed,he kept his rythm, his speed. His stamina was good, he didnt waste punches. At this stage of his career he was able to learn a few tricks form Pedro Diaz,he looked last night like coming from the cuban school of boxing. Really, if you understand boxing-many here only understand toe to toe-you'll realize that what Cotto did last night was marvelous. Margo should retire, not because he is done like a boxer, he can still beat 80% of jr MW but because healthy issues, unless he doesnt care about his eye.
It was a good performace no doubt but if he was really as smart as you're making him out to be he wouldn't have got into a slugging match with Pacquiao and then got blown away as a result.
He seems to fight like a dancing slickster against Margarito.Last night and the first 5 last time I see him fighting in a brilliant defensive way he never seems to utilise the same way against others. It really is a joy to watch.Bobbing, rolling and countering beautifully.
Most of us know Pacquaio has the beating of Cotto.I'm sure as a Manny fan you would take no joy in him having another fight with Cotto. Just think he should be able to enjoy his moment.:good
Cotto fought a good fight, and it did look like Margo's punches had less of an effect when he did land than in the first fight. But remember that Margo is so amateurish in his footwork. Cotto spent the whole night shuffling to the left, and not once did Tony step to his right and cut the ring off. It might have been a different fight had he done more of that.
Cotto boxed beautifully last night.. I was screaming for more clinching and body work in the earlier rounds but his gameplan was to work the eye of Margo and he stuck to it.
I like the chemistry between Cotto and the new trainer..... Kinda looks like his pops... Anyway, I think Cotto is certainly a better fighter today than he was before the loss to Tony 2 yrs back. Miguel showed a more cerebral and composed mentality after his first loss. He just wasn't the same in terms of his aggression that took him to the height of his career at that time. He seems to have a perfect balance now that he's with a trainer he is comfortable with. No diss to Manny S as I think he did a great job with miguel as well, but Cotto is a very emotional fighter.....not always a good thing, but it works for Cotto. His new trainer understood miguel better than Emmanuel and got more out of Cotto. The gameplan was the same as before....to box and move but Miguel boxed more and was forced into brawls less due to being a more experienced fighter. He has craft and savvy that comes with experience....miguel has a lot of that.
