indeed. with 4 months to cut that ****in 1 lb. is it that hard? does cotto has had problems/difficulty making 146lbs in his fight with clottey?

pac has conceded to cotto's offered weight (145).

    True.

But if he's allowed to defend it at 147 and wins, then it's vice versa.

His mama didn't raise no dummy. Imagine, they've been attempting to hammer out this deal for quite some time and now, suddenly the ROACH camp has figured out that the title isn't on the line! Brilliant move by team COTTO. If Manny wants to make history he will have to: a) give Cotto a bigger piece of the pie; b) fight Cotto @147 for the Belt to make History; c) fight Cotto @145 for NO-TITLE or d) find another welterweight opponent to fight.

Cotto has truly played his hand VERY WELL!! Manny and Co. are really in a bind.

nah, Cotto is not the star of the show, everything will be in proper perspective in due time.

Pac has more of the bragging rights!

You're absolutley right HE'S NOT the Star of the show, but in this funny world of Boxing Cotto holds the KEY. Manny isn't fighting Cotto because he wants to fight the Best of the Best, because if that were the case he would fight Mosley at Welter! The whole point here is that he NEEDS Cotto to define his "legacy" as the first ever 7 weight Champ! When looking at opponents in this weight Class, Cotto might be his only hope for a win. This division is loaded and IMO I can't see Pac fighting Williams, Mosley, Margo and even Cintron. At this point Manny might be the Star but he needs Cotto more than Cotto NEEDS him.

There must be a reason why Cotto does not want his title on the line.

I think Cotto's pride is getting in the way. If you're fighting anyway, why doesn't put that trinket at stake. Cotto should understand that Pac wants to fight him for a reason. That is, chasing the historic 7th title.

As disappointing as it may sound, there is nothing that can be done about it. It's Cotto's belt, if he doesn't want to risk it, it's up to him. Unless of course the WBO mandates it and will strip Cotto of the title if he doesn't.

Now if the Pac camp wants a title fight, they could just look the other way and Mosley will gladly take it. That's all there is to it.

Lastly, a lot of people here bash Pac for not agreeing to fight at 147 limit and concludes that he doesn't deserve a shot at the belt. You are wrong. Dust of your books about boxing and you will remember at if you weight 140.1 lbs up to 147, you are within the welterweight limit. Whether it's 143 or 145, you are a welterweight. I would have agreed if Cotto fought Pac at 140, but some guys just can't understand.

Do you guys not listen to cotto? hes said many times why hes not wanting to put the title on the line and its because he doesnt want to pay the fee, which is around 150 grand if im not mistaken.... now they are saying he will have to pay it anyways perhaps so ill wait to see what happens, but you guys are clutching at straws on ideas when cotto has said it himself why.

The facts are that the fight was negotiated as a non-title fight. Arum has said so, Cotto's team have said so. Cotto was the first to agree to the complete package (location, weight, split, etc). Now that he has agreed, terms have been changed on him, and he is just supposed to agree or else he is being a ***** and ruining the fight? Really?

Putting up the belt would result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in sanctioning fees. Seriously, people. You guys will find every stupid reason to complain.

The important thing is that the fight is on, and it's going to be action-packed. Great fight for casual and hardcore fans.

    WTF was that?

Are you saying Cotto was almost dead in the weigh-in at 146 with Clottey? If Pac fought Cotto at 147 (welter limit) and Pac won, are you gonna say Cotto was weight drained then?

Tell me, what was Cotto's weight at fight night last Cotto-Clottey fight? What is the "healthiest weight" for Cotto then?
