Props to Margarito for putting the hurt on. But Cotto is still a megastar...and I still wouldn't pick ANYONE else against him at 147. He could very well win a rematch too.
i agree. i thought he was outclassing margo in the first half of the fight but the second half margo just kept trucking and finally cotto had nothing left
Cotto would have to work on surviving and winning on points over Margarito next time around. Hell it's obvious Margo was too big and stronger than Cotto. :tired
I'm a big Cotto fan, and this fight changes nothing. Although he took a serious beating, and I wouldn't be shocked if he was never the same. This was a bad style matchup for him, plus his plan in the ring wasn't the greatest. (You could hit Margo in the head with a brick and he would smile, where in the hell was Miguel's body work?) This fight reminded me of Gatti v Baldomir, you just knew it was a matter of time before both succumbed to the pressure. I don't think Cotto would ever beat Margo, and a rematch would not be wise. The only guys I see beating Margo are Paul Williams (even he is iffy), and PBF. I've always been a Margo believer and in the back of my mind worried about this happening, but I thought Miguel would land enough body shots throughout the fight, to slow Margo down in the later rounds, and that his overall class would shine through. It was the exact opposite, and Cotto got a taste of his own medicine. Margo is the real deal, and anybody with doubts saw last night what a desperate, hungry, willed and skilled fighter can do. Margo, at the moment, is the toughest WW out there, bar none.
