Quite a few people who are answering the call and pulling for Miguel Cotto in his upcoming fight believe he has greater strength than Mayweather. Where is the proof or evidence for this?

I think strength wise, they are quite similar at this point. I think Mayweather will hold his feet more as the rounds go on and show his strength, similar to what he did against Mosley. Although Cotto did look strong and solid against Margarito.

no, mayweather could easily bench over 300 lbs.

That's because he isn't. People are confusing how hard they hit for strength. Power is so overrated. Floyd like Ali doesn't hit very hard but is strong.

IMO Floyd is definitely stronger. Although people often equate punching power with strength, the two are not correlated.

You don't have to be strong to dominate in a ring. I'd say Cotto is thicker/heavier(Whatever that means). Doesn't matter though, Floyd's got the endurance and skills to win.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Cotto was stronger being the naturally bigger guy. I can't see that making any difference when they fight, though. Floyd doesn't beat guys by being stronger, he beats them by being better.

I think they're fairly even but Mayweather knows what do in the clinch, he's tricky in close range a lot more so than Cotto so despite them being fairly even strength wise Mayweather's tactics will allow him to walk Cotto down and appear to be out muscling him

yea even at 154, Im not sure if cotto will be stronger. floyd is a verrryyyyy strong welterweight. People still say that floyd is a small weak welterweight and the weightclass isnt natural for him.. I just laugh at how stupid they are :lol:

It has been proven that you need more than just brawn to beat Floyd.

I doubt it but even if he is it does not matter. May weather is going to school him for 12rounds, it could be brutal.

    Mayweather is deceptively strong.
