  Judah won the first 5 rounds? :nut Go watch the fight again moron if you've ever seen it? I seem to remember Cotto having to low blow Judah, (a judah btw who hadnt fought in a year) just to keep from being knocked out,

    :good

Mayweather is the best fighter of his generation and has carte blanche to do anything that he wants.

    He's not above boxing.

He can't do whatever he wants. He's the recognized 'champion' at 147; he needs to take on elite welterweights and act like a champion. Bottom line.

Greater fighters like Robinson, Whitaker, and Duran never acted this way.

    :think

Mayweather got a new prestige and power after 2007. But no doubt that he should fight top contenders -he doesn't have to, but he should.

If he doesn't, history will judge him. If he fights Cotto, I think it will be enough.

Nobody doubts Cotto is an elite fighter and deserves to be in the P4P list.

Not that I want to defend Mayweather.....

But Cotto, who may very well have wins over 10 champions (I don't feel like verifying) has zero wins over champions who held titles when Cotto defeated them. Mayweather has 6, perhaps 7 such wins.

It is a stat worth taking note of IMO.

If he fights Cotto and wins convincingly, I wouldn't care if he decides to cherry pick his fights or just flat out retire. A win over Cotto would put the final stamp on his legacy.

Yup, he has 10, but none of them were champions when he beat them. Margarito should be his first if all goes well.

I keep hearing that Margarito won't hold a title when he faces Cotto. Apparently he will be stripped.

When you're the champ ... who care who's next in line ... because you're in control.

No matter if you fought better competition or not ... if you don't beat the champion ... then you're not the man.
