Cotto isn't the man either ... he's the number #1 contender ... Floyd is the man ... he's the linear champion ... ring magazine belt holder ... WBC champion ... and the #1 p4p fighter in the world ... the best fighter in the world can't take the back seat to a guy that hasn't done **** - besides win a vacant belt that Ricky Hatton (who lost to Mayweather) vacated. Margarito is holding the belt that he won Cintron ... and Floyd vacated that belt when he beat Judah.
Yep,but there are 4 belts now(which is not floyds fault)so the linear champ can avoid fighting a top contender whos a belt holder himself (cotto, margo) by hiding behind politics(which IS Floyds fault) Moreover, why should the fans wait in vain for him to take on the top challenge(rs)or be stripped.?The WBC will never strip him,so he can avoid these guys uncensured until hes 40, using the linear argument. The WBC and RING will never strip him so its up to us fans(you know the people that help keep the sport going)to take a stand. Decebals opinion means more to me than corrupt Jose fukn Sulemain, and in his mind,as a mere fan,hes already stripped Floyd. So have i.
Calzaghe is bad for boxing, then! He fought Hopkins instead of linear Erdei and he calls himself the man at 175 now! Well, is he?:huh
Why would he have to beat Quintana again?:huh This is nothing to do with Floyd. Cotto is the man based on his last couple of performances. If Floyd wants to prove otherwise, he has to beat Cotto.
I'm sorry, but RJJ had the title ... he lost it to Tarver ... Tarver lost it to Johnson ... Johnson lost it to Tarver ... Tarver lost it to Hopkins and Hopkins just lost it to Calzaghe ... the lineage is in the ring title ... not the WBO ... just because he's the longest reigning champion doesn't grant lineage.
:nono Floyd is the established linear title holder. If the fight doesnt happen over the next 18 months then I will drop Floyd but I dont think PBF's last fight was a ridiculous match-up. Fighting De La Hoya is not good enough, but that is one fight! If after that Floyd is still not matching up with Cotto - then I will drop him. But until then - it is Cotto that has to beat Floyd, not the other way round!
I'm sorry but I thought that Jones was the undisputed LHW champion and held all belts ... even some that I never heard of ... I don't think he held the WBO ... but that WBO doesn't matter when you hold every other title ... I'm predicting that Jones will get his title back by years end ... followed by an alaphbet belt to go along with it ... I don't know if its neccessary to hold the all the belts like he did before - but the ring w/ the WBA or WBC ... or even WBO belt ... I don't want him to fight Tarver for that tainted IBF strap.
Floyd didn't need Cotto to become lineal champion @ 130, 135, 140, or 147 ... p4p ... or a 5 -division champion ... why would he need Cotto now? It doesn't make sense ... how would he need a Cotto at this point in his career? ... he's a 12 yr vet ... not a 4 or 5 yr guy that needs to solidify his legacy by a career defining fight. When I say he was lineal champ ... I mean he beat the lineal champion of those divisions ... Genero Hernandez ... Jose Luis Castillo ... Ricky Hatton ... and Carlos Baldomir.
