Erdei is the lineal Champ at 175. Calzaghe is THE MAN. Floyd is the lineal Champ at 147 lbs. Cotto is THE MAN.
Cotto can make himself irrefutably the top contender by beating Margo and then Quintana (maybe). He then owns the belts and there is no one else for Floyd to fight. It's not an ideal situation but nothing you can do with 4 belts around.
PBF has retired, as I said in the opening post. He no longer takes care of business in the division and hasn't done for a while. You need to take care of business if you want to be the man.
Yap. The lineal title wet through Tiozzo. Hill beat Tiozzo. DM beat Hill. Gonzales beat Hill and Erdei beat Gonzales. Alternatively, it went thought Hill. DM beat Hill. Gonzales beat Hill and Erdei beat Gonzales. Any way you look at it, Erdei is the lineal Champion at LHW. Thus, according to achillesthegreat, Calzaghe is bad for boxing because instead of fighting the lineal Champ, when he went up to 175 lbs, he fought Hopkins, who wasn't even a beltholder, nevermind the lineal Champion, AND he STILL calls himself THE MAN for having beating Hopkins. According to achillesthegreat, Erdei is THE MAN and Calzaghe - just another contender at 175 lbs. I disagree. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_light_heavyweight_boxing_champions
Linear champ, What a bunch of crap!!!!!! When your "linear belt" fell into the hand of an abortion like Baldomir lost all importance IMO. Is even worst than fighting for a vacant title. Right now Miguel Cotto is the man. Good promotions and paying money can keep Mayweather's name up there for ever. But he has to fight real 147lbs fighter to be even considered here. HE IS A GREAT FIGHTER. But he doesn't really compete at 147lbs. He makes exhibitions. Is like seeing the Harlem Globetrotters show and say they are the basketball world champions. PLEASE!!!!!! Miguel Cotto is the man RIGHT NOW. He has to beat Margarito if he wants to continue being the man. And since you are posting records. Do yourself a favor and compare them. Also remember their ages. Cotto's record is at least as good as Floyd's . Less belts, better oposition. The division now is very busy with good fighters. And Cotto has a few years more to keep fighting and accumulate more numbers in that resume. One more thing: IMO a fighter doesn't have to be unbeaten to be great. You can be unbeaten if you figth a bunch of taxi drivers
Good examples Decebal, you have this one covered. The 175 to 147 comparison is absolutely spot on.:good
