If Margarito were to beat Cotto, Floyd would still not fight Margarito and everyone knows it.

Mayweather is still fighting so that means he is still the man at 147lbs. Until he gets beaten or announces his retirement, he is still the man.

Decebel what your saying is fine, stick to your guns.

And what Mayweathr fans are saying is fine also, because he is the top fighter in the division.

I come out somewhere in the middle. Miguel Cotto is the rising tide in the division and is taking on the best competition. Floyd is the standing #1, and I keep him here for now, but if he rematches two guys he beat without fighting Cotto first he is out and Cotto is in.

Patience, my friend. I'm sure that PBF and Cotto will inevitably meet. Possibly next year.

This will happen no doubt. Floyd isn't a ***** and he won't retire without fighting Cotto. Even Floyd knows he hasn't done a god damn thing at 147lbs since defeated Baldomir. Floyd won't fight Cotto till the division is cleared up. As far as I am concerned after Cotto defeats Margarito there will be only 2 men, Cotto and Floyd. ffs

Cotto was arguably the best resume at 147 right now.

But Mayweather is on top of the division and is the Champ, period. When Mayweather arrived to 147, he beat 2 of the Top3 fighters (the scene has changed, however).

based on what do you keep him no1 in the division he hasnt fought anybody of merit while at the same time we have guys like cotto and margarito busting their asses fighting tough fights it is just not fair if you asked me to keep somebody no1 when he hasnt fought anybody if you told me floyd fought some tough guys at 147 and needed a break it will be ok .. for him to keep the no 1 spot but the guy hasnt fought anydoby at 47 ,, to me the winner of cotto vs marg is clearly NO1 in 147 NO dispute about that and if floyd wanted to regain that top spot at 147 he will have to fight the winner of that fight

BTW, who is Margarito and why is he so important?

Damn, his best wins are a very close one over Joshua Clottey and over fringe contender Kermit Cintron (Cintron's resume also sucks).

I don't know why a guy with those wins is so relevant. Cotto's resume is very good and impressive, but Margarito's resume is poor.

until someone beats him, mayweather is the man at welterweight. as for cotto, if the fight with margo really happens, margo is going to knock him out, and there will never be a mayweather-cotto fight.
