Good post. I read his responses a while back and found them shocking. Unless you are Muhammad Ali, you can't win a fight without keeping a guy honest by going to his body. Cotto is already limited offensively, so that made the fight even worse for Cotto by not committing. Cotto also mentioned in other comments that he didn't commit because when they got close, AM hit him low. He said he was already moving, and that the low blows affected him a bit. Wow, considering he said this, I truly wonder how Judah felt...lol

    Best line was:

"In typical Cotto fashion, he said he didn’t care who he fought or where."

Cotto believes he is still the better fighter. Interesting.

So much for all the wise guys who say "All he had to do was keep off the ropes and punch to the body more, and he would have won the fight easily"

Every strategy comes with a price.

    He cannot beat Margarito.

I also think Cotto will win the rematch with a few technical changes. But I must say Cotto would have to fight a near perfect fight. :bbb

Cotto couldn't get the job done and won't ever against Margarito. Like Vargas against Tito he was a young guy who got beat by a full fledged belt holder who isn't past their prime, in fact, possibly in the middle of it. Cotto took the test and failed.

He can look good but if ever put against Margarito again he will be put away even faster. He couldn't absorb the punishment necessary to win so his tolerance will be even lower. People can deny all they want and say he has a shot but if he gets a rematch he will get beat all over again.

Cottos punches are tighter, can fight better off the backfoot, he's less vulnerable to boxers, is just as good a body puncher, cuts off the ring better, has a better defense, can make adjustments better, his accuracy as well as timing are also better.

and with all of that said, margarito will always beat him.

I don't think any of that, and I can't agree with all of it anyway, makes Cotto the better fighter. Knowing your limits and maximizing your strengths makes the better fighter.
