    *Yawn*

I don't care if you respect me. I don't need your respect. The nationality thing seems above your head, and that is sad. And it is the type of thing that has made me take long periods of time away from this board. Being Gulliver among the Lilliputians can get old.

I've been posting a bit more lately, but I mostly come here now to make predictions and goof on those who let hype get in the way of reason, like the Cotto nuthuggers.

There are a lot of great people here, though. So that makes things worthwhile.

I respect the fighters, always have. I also call it like it is. Objectively speaking, Cotto quit. And did so in a way that made him look worse than another choice -- like going down and staying down from a light punch -- may have made him look.

I don't have 'sacred cows' I won't criticize. Cotto quit, and isn't near the fighter HBO and many here wanted him to be. He's soft. That's reality, and I'm sorry if that makes you sad. You have to call them like you see them, or else you become a worthless shill like Jim Lampley spouting nonsense to protect house fighters.

This guy is a major and I mean MAJOR PBF nuthugger but he has a solid point. If Margarito quit like that vs. Cotto he might as well retire because he would never be able to show his face again in Mexico. Good thing he has American citizenship LOL.

If Mayweather quit vs. either of these guys the internet forums would explode and crash and the next day he would be on the front page of the sports section of most newspapers saying the P4P King just quit on his knees rather than go out on his shield.

Oh I respect you. You are a very popular joke on DailyKos http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/2/22840/62740/477/488718 and you are a good joke here too, but I'm not sure if you're popular or not.

ah yes, a giant amongst us normal mortals *sigh*

I would love to hear more of your saga about how difficult it is for such a genius to get along in a world of subpar human beings ie everyone who is not Paul F. Villareal. It's a compelling saga indeed.

No, no. My brother is the world class powerlifter. I was recruited to powerlift by one of the top promoters in the sport, but couldn't get involved at the time due to a bad shoulder injury.

This is what a world class powerlifter looks like doing squats with 530 pounds for reps with very light gear at a bodyweight of around 210 pounds:

    [yt]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qy1v-W4Hjwc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qy1v-W4Hjwc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/yt]

John won nationals 3 times and placed 3rd in the world the year he decided to compete there. He's also drug-free, unlike almost all his competition. He's probably through with the sport, we'll see.

If you think I talk a lot about myself, you should hear him. And numbnuts like you say the same things to him: "Oh, you must be a nothing because you brag."

Yeah, if a nothing is defined as a world class athlete and Silicon Valley attorney.

As I said, you're a stupid dicktree who is only now realizing how unbelievably idiotic you were for coming after me. If I wanted to, I could make it a lot worse. As I said, you're just a typical, moronic noob who doesn't know better. And I don't care. I have other things to think about, like how I'm going to entertain 4 states for an hour tomorrow between watching football games. You? You have to think about whether you're going to use Stridex or Witch Hazel on your acne.

Here's a final tip, kid: Always scout out your opposition before you start talking sh*t. It will save you a lot of embarrassment. I've been around this site for years, far longer than I've been posting on this forum. I was making good predictions and talking to people like Wally Matthews on places like rec.sport.boxing.pro while you were saying "goo goo, gah gah," or picking your nose and eating your boogers.

Same old, same old. Just another clown that hit the water in the dunk tank after I tossed the baseball.

    Ha ha ha.

    1. I see you respect ESB posters as much as you respect fighters.

    2. What you need to do is respect others. Especially fighters.

    3. The nationality thing was irrelevant to our discussion. How did you manage to come to the conclusion that "it is above my head" is really above my head.

    4. No, you're not egomaniac at all. And btw, having a high IQ neither means you're always right, nor that people are going to be amazed by you, agree with you or respect you. And if you didn't care what people think about you, you wouldn't brag about how smart you are all the time.

    5. You don't sound like you do, calling them quitters for deciding to not take further punishment after 11 rounds.

    6. So, FAKING to be out from a light punch would be more decent than taking a knee after loads of punches? Hmmm....

    7. It doesn't make me sad, I like the guy and I am sad he lost, but I also give Margarito credit for beating him convincingly, and I also give him credit for standing in there with a beast like Margo for as long as he could. A man who takes 267 punches from Margarito ISN'T SOFT.

Cotto got off very lightly by comparison as even most PBF and Margo fans let him off the hook. Great fighters like Tszyu got more flack for retiring between rounds after a grueling war at near 36 years old. Duran became infamous for quitting against a legend like Leonard. Cotto is fortunate.

The man who gets the most respect is the one that does the least in seeking that respect.

In other words, people respect me precisely because I don't go around kissing people's asses looking for respect. That way, I am much more objective and not beholden to anybody in particular and people know I'm not playing favorites and can't be compromised.

My respect on this board comes from knowing the fight game, being able to rattle off reams of information and from making good predictions, like Margo spanking Cotto. That's it. It's not a popularity contest. If you're an idiot poster like the guy above, I don't need to respect you, and I won't. You haven't earned that respect. I don't glorify fanboys.

The intelligence and my accomplishments get brought up when people get a little punchdrunk, like earlier in the thread. It's the fastest way to shut fools up. Kind of like a mercy killing, if you will. It's the simplest way to be able to move on from the imbecility as rapidly as possible, and that's why I use it as a go-to move. I don't have to prove anything to anyone here, and I don't need my ego stroked. Just not my personality.

Cotto is soft mentally. He's a frontrunner, and pampered. Just like how Jermain Taylor got from being babied by HBO. But Taylor is harder than Cotto, in the mind. Just not good or disciplined enough to work on his flaws and beat guys like Pavlik.

    1. First thing I agree with.

    2. You don't seriously believe that when you tell someone "I'm so smart, I'm a genious" you're going to shut him up, now, do you? Cmon.

    3. I understand you and many others get upset and mad with the way HBO "babies" some fighters. Hype can be very annoying. But blame Lampley and HBO, not the fighters. Calling them quitters and putting their bloody faces as your avatar is unfair and disrespectful for them.

    2. No, not that. But the objective IQ scores, Ivy League degree, media background, etc. can help in that aspect sometimes. I don't have a need to brag, as anyone who really knows me could tell you. That is different, however, than promoting myself. But I don't have much need to do that on ESB.

    3. I'm not a big Cotto fan, and him, his fans and HBO pissed me off to no end leading up to the Margo fight. They totally disrespected Margo, and people like me and san rafael who picked Margo. The avatar is a reminder of that, and a reminder that the most overhyped fighter in the world is nothing but another guy who HBO is trying to make money off of. Cotto got thrashed, and people who get caught up in the hype need to remember this cautionary tale the next time this sort of thing happens. Like next week with Sam Peter.

I have no ill will towards you or anyone else here. I will defend myself as necessary and as I feel is appropriate. I'm not afraid to give my opinion and I know a lot about the sport. My opinions tend to be pretty strong and I usually don't take a lot of gruff without returning fire. But everybody here deserves to voice their opinion and I'm no better or worse than anyone else here. And, I respect everybody here, including the people I go back and forth with.

I'm 36 years old, past the point where things like message boards are key to my sense of self-worth. I'm just having fun and talking about a sport I really enjoy.

lol I walk away, drop off the kids at a dance, go to Wendy's and get food, eat it while watching Mizzou v. Nebraska and Paul F. Villareal is still compulsively singing the glories of Paul F. Villareal.

DAMN it's got to SUCK to be you. To be that ****ed up and not even know it. You have my sympathies bro.
