The way his new trainer is talking all i am saying is that I have NEVER, EVER seen this dude talk that way EVER. They are extremely confident. We will see. http://www.elnuevodia.com/videos-de...toparalapeleaconmayweather-1547501722001.html
Pedro sai he was present for the Ortiz fight and saw some glaring weaknesses in Mayweather that he will not comment on!!! At the very least Cotto will be very well conditioned and prepared...they said if may runs or stands and fights they are ready for him. Diaz said elsewhere May most likely will not last the 12 rounds!!! Either way...I like what I'm hearing and seeing!!!
Interesting take from the trainers point of view, I haven't seen or heard much about him but I hear he is quite the perfectionist and his hunger and vision for boxing goes well beyond lining his pockets with cash. The fact that Cotto has a trainer with his knowledge, passion for the science of the sport and lack of monetary needs (which is a direct result of his Cuban upbringing) can only aide Cotto on this seemingly impossible journey.
Cotto is really going at it. I think his trainer is a little bit too confident but they need to be confident if they want to win. This will be a real fun fight.
He also said that he understands that Money's is the best fighter in the world, with incredible speed and the best defense there is BUT he is not impressed. He said there is a key to everything and Miguel will be equipped with knowledge to turn it. He also said this training is very different from the Margarito because Money is obviously the best boxer in the game so he has designed the training around that. The thing that attracted me the most was this: Miguel understand this is the biggest fight of his career, beating Money will propel him to P4P the best in the world and THAT is the fire that Cotto has on him. They asked him about the fact that Money is the best in the game when it comes to adapting during the fight and he said that wont play a factor, that Miguel will beat him, round by round, on his backyard and that will be the result. He said what a boxer needs is condition, tactic, and strong hands and Miguel will bring all three of them. That was pretty much about it. Again what i get is this: THIS TRAINER IS EXTREMELY CONFIDENT LIKE NEVER BEFORE AND MIGUEL IS TRAINING WITH THE OUTMOST MOTIVATION, ALSO LIKE NEVER BEFORE. I plan to go to see him on media day, hopefully they will allow to take pics and I will post them here.
Trainer also said that Mayweather can "adapt" 100 times in the fight, but that Cotto will be ready for that.
Cotto is a very good fighter and I'm sure Diaz is a great trainer, the fact is Cotto is who he is, he never should have lost that first fight to Margo, his stamina and the possibility that he was pounded with harden wraps was the reason he lost, Cotto looked as good as he looked in the first half of fight one that he looked in the second fight, but it seemed to me like Tony's pressure was wearing him down again before the stoppage.... This trainer is confident, it always seems as if he believes Floyd is overated, won't last 12 rounds, glaring weaknesses, not impressed by Mayweather, its almost disrespectful, Miguel has three times more weaknesses than Floyd, has failed to go the full twelve twice and has been unimpressive in wins particularly against Clottey... I'm sure Cotto will be in great condition and will have a good gameplan, but Diaz can't fight for him on May 5, like Floyd says it looks easy until you get in the ring, we've heard all this confidence talk before from Floyd's previous opponents...its like Miguel's New trainer taking JMM, Mosley, Hatton or Ortiz and claiming he can train them to beat Floyd, Cotto is who he is and in my opinion could never beat Floyd based on styles... If Cotto can't make you crumble under his firepower he resorts to boxing off the backfoot, this will happen when he faces Floyd...I think this guy really has Cotto believing he will beat Mayweather but when he realizes he can't he will get frustrated and then get picked apart I guarantee it...
