Cotto looked sharper losing vs Margo than winning vs Clottey.

*sigh* Margo is slow, Clottey isn't that slow. Clottey keeps his hands up, Margo doesn't. Clottey is a boxer, margo is a slugger. Two different fighters, two different styles.

    STYLES MAKE FIGHTS.

Jeff Young's posts suggest he doesn't really understand what he's seeing in a fight.

ummmm ok, i saw at the beginning of the fight a weakened declined cotto that got cut and also effeted him even further....

cotto was outboxed by a fether-fisted slow moving clottey, clottey has poor footwork....but good defense, he needs some work i nthe offensive skills department.....cotto was fortunate to get clottey off-balance and got a kd...its that simple....clottey lost this fight, cotto did not win it....

clottey had the fight in his favor by round 7 and was in complete control 9......he fatigued and cotto danced his way to stealing the championship rounds and the fight......

how more clear and accurate can i be.

WTF???? Clottey has extremely fast hands. But Cotto won round 1 easily even withoutt the knock down. So he wasn;t getting outboxed. Plus, don't forget MArgarito, who beat the hell out of Cotto, looked like **** against Clottey too. Clottey is one of those fighter that can make any fighter look bad. He is a tough MOFO.

Cotto started slow as he often does, then timed Clottey coming in and got a knock down. Other than that, that round was even till that point, whatever some of the fantasists on here like to say.

Cotto was moving, boxing and landing on Clottey in the second – clear Cotto round.

Cotto got cut by a headbutt in the third, which he won. He responded to that by beating Clottey round the ring in the fourth, closely contesting the fifth (clottey round), then HAMMERING Clottey in the sixth. All the while he was engaging Clottey in close quarters.

He looked sharp and fast in spite of the cut that was obviously impairing his vision. By the mid way point, Cotto was winning.

Then from seven till nine, Clottey took command of a vision impaired Cotto who backed off (sensibly) but was still scoring with eye catching flurries and making Clottey chase him. By now, Clottey had closed the gap somewhat, but needed a big finish to confirm the win.

Using his adaptability, footwork and skill, Cotto kept Clottey working and was landing enough to make the Ghanian cautious about getting caught. Cotto wins the final rounds because he’s the work controlling the action with ring generalship. Clottey sat back and let Cotto take control.

Let’s also consider: Cotto had a terrible cut and was struggling to see clearly. He didn’t complain and he fought bravely. Clottey had nothing wrong with him but three times looked for a way to end the fight early, trying to get his opponent disqualified or trying to get points deducted.

Who’s the ***** here? Clottey felt good when things were going his way, but the second he had any struggle… he acted like a *****. And the “foul” in the last round should have been a knock down.

What we've seen is Cotto isn't scared to engage and, without that cut, he'd have dominated Clottey's fouling ass.

This bull**** about “Clottey lost but Miguel didn’t win” – I hate that from any fight. Clottey threw away a golden opportunity, but Cotto had a lot to do with that. He wouldn’t let Clottey engage using RING GENERALSHIP. That scores as well, genius.

    correct

some fighters are never the same after they lose their undefeated record.
others take a while to recover after a loss(wlad sucked for a bit after the sanders disaster.)

Yup.. in all honesty the version of Cotto that I saw against Margarito was the best I've ever seen despite the loss. While in the Clottey fight he looked slower handed, easier to hit, and his stamina faded very badly down the stretch. He was lucky that Clottey doesn't have the high volume output that Tony has otherwise Miguel would've been knocked out for sure.

I don't know, either Cotto didn't train hard for this fight or that beating Margo gave him was one of those prime ending beat downs. Sad if it's true.:-(

He took a formidable opponent in CLottey a FULL 12 ROUNDS and 9 rounds with a HUGE GASH over his Lead eye! Are you kidding me? He showed more in this fight than all others combined! He could have easily folded up his tent and laid down, but he didn't he OUT-BOXED Clottey, like he did Mosley. Granted Cotto has some serious defensive issues that need to be addressed at this point, like being susceptible to uppercuts and not knowing how and when to clinch, but he's not washed up or broken. A Broken Cotto would have given up in the fight after the 3 round. Pacman should meet him at 147 and this will be a barn burner!

hey guru, the reason people are treating him like a ****ing girl is simple:

-agasint chop chop, when almost getting knocked out, went for the balls
-against judah, when almost getting knocked out, went for the balls
-against clottey, when the going got tough, he went for the balls, back of head, and threw him down. did i mention he lost this fight because he ran backwards and got outlanded?
-against mosley, when the going got tough, went for the balls. did i mention he ran backwards in this fight as well leading to a contreversial descision? (i thouhgt molsey won, however, the clottey fight was more a CONCRETE win for clottey)

so guru you ask why people rag on his ass. the reason we do, is because when he gets hit, he cant stand it. so he either gets knocked out, or goes dirty and runs hoping for a dodgy descision in his home town. WHO THE **** COULD BE A FAN OF THIS. and who the **** are you to come in here and talk some **** about how a fighter reacts when he gets shakin. if i seem to remeber, when clottey fought margo (with plaster gloves, and a hurt useless left hand) he still finished the fight on his feet still looking like margo got beat down (did you see his swollen face?). That is a fighter TRUE BOXING FANS are fans of. you can eat ****.

"Anyone who has been following fighters for more than 5 minutes knows this happens to virtually all of them when they get their little cherry busted"
really? cause i dont seem to remember clottey every reacting like this. did the atomic bull ever? i can remember countless others so dont even go there.

Cotto didn't do anything in the Clottey fight, I think he knew he had it in the bag if he just showed up and posed and body slammed Clottey

That's because his opponents weren't the same. Different opponents bring out different performances. Mosley looked like he was losing against Mayorga while won every single round against Margarito.

    :| :rofl

bigbitch27, "Cotto went for Mosley's balls??" HUH? WHEN? NEVER? And where did I ask "why people rag on him," bigbitch27? "..who the **** are you to come in here and talk some **** about how a fighter reacts when he gets shakin.." - what does this even mean, bigbitch27??

LMAO, goddamn IDIOT... bigBITCH doesn't think undefeated fighters can lose steam after losing for the first time. Good argument, bigBITCH. Definately worth a long response comprised of JACK **** HATING and GARBAGE NONSENSE... My ***** is on her period right now too... No ****. :rofl Dry your eyes, bigBITCH. Cotto WON. It hurts, I know.. Let it out. Don't keep it inside.
