Why is this? Foreman is the only fight I like for Cotto out of all of the top fighters and champions at junior middleweight. Stylistically, Foreman is the type of fighter Cotto generally eats up. Foreman may have a decent advantage in size, but offensively he poses very little threat and relies on his legs for defense. While I have my concerns about how well Cotto rebounds from the Pacquiao fight and how well his power transfers to 154 with larger gloves, I've seen nothing from Foreman to suggest that he should be an overwhelming favorite, regardless of current circumstances.
:deal agreed. Foreman is a slippery **** but he has feather fists. Cotto looked good early on in both his losses before being broken down. i don't see foreman being able to break cotto down. i agree that i'm skeptical about cotto above 147 but i see cotto being able to win this.
Cotto in a more comfortable weight at 154. It became apparent to me that he packed a few pounds for the Clottey fight. And to do that and then come back and get down to 145 shortly afterwards was a little taxing in my opinion. I think he comfortably beats Foreman.
I don't know, man. I still think he's best suited for 147. He made 145 for Pacquiao without appearing drained. Physically that was the best I've seen him look since he fought Carlos Quintana in 06.
This is an old vid! I read an interview with Miguel Angel Torres thanking Miguel Angle Cotto for allowing him to train with him in Florida. This was before the Pac fight. I know Ecko just put out the vid, but it's an old clip.
Don't see the big deal, Big Reg. I can't even tell for sure it's Cotto. Save for the alligator arms and the bald head I wouldn't even suspect it was him.
The footage in that video is for a commercial so Cotto let Torres hit him. I suggest that people watch Torres' last MMA fight to see exactly what Cotto would do to him in a fist fight. :good This content is protected
Cotto, like Shane and Clottey, has the frame for 154. But his height would be a bit of a let down, combined with the fact that his endurance has most probably gone down ever since those wars he has had. I can only judge by what I see, TBH, Cotto looks terrible. This is an elite WW boxer in the best ever WW era. Even with all those tragedies occuring, he should have known better than to fatten up like he did. You don't see Pacqaio, Mosley, Clottey... carrying such bellies. ~160 would probably be his ideal walking weight, but for sure he's weighing more in those photos/clips.
Antwuan and neckbreakn, I hope you guys are right. But I can't help but think Cotto is flat out damaged goods, and that the weight (150+) might effect his speed so much that he might not be effective offensively himself. Foreman has sting behind his shots if he can land them while your not expecting them. In all I think this fight is competitive, but Cotto is not going to look good even if he were to win. I strongly think Cotto is damaged goods. If Cotto losses, I'll just crack open the DVDs of him at 140lbs systematically destroying opponents in flawless victories. =)
