I believe this fight with Canelo, can redeem him in my eyes...... I always thought Cotto had great potential but suffered from having a **** team around him.

Now with Roach, we are seeing Miguel Flourish. Many Puerto Ricans myself included will elevate Cotto to legendary status if he smashes Canelo

by legendary status I mean for us, he can rightfully have a place in the lineup next to Ortiz, Gomez, Benitez, and Trinidad.

what are you're thoughts on this?

I would hope so. As a Puerto Rican myself, it would redeem Cotton in my eyes since I believe he's a shopworn damaged goods midget with a gay stepson.

I don't think he has a chance vs the Irishman, but if he do manages to win, you know I'm gonna be talking smack.

The Mehicans are petrified of the thought... =(

Leaning towards Canelo taking this fight...Lot of people say Alvarez because of size, youth, etc...But I think Canelo's defense and countering is the key...With that said, I'll be rooting for Cotto...I think Cotto has done everything a fighter can do...and as a fan of boxing, I think highly of Cotto...a real fighter. Cheers.

A decision win for Cotto is the most likely result for me. It's a pretty even match though.

Why do you call him "Cotton". You think Cotto is "soft"?

IMHO, Cotto has the experienced, calm demeanor and skills needed to handle the young lion Canelo. However, I will say this Canelo also has the skills to take the old lion to deep waters. Its going to come down to who does damage early in the fight.

Cotto could very well beat Canelo close on points. I favor the latter though, either by decision or late stoppage. And I also hope Alvarez beats him so we won't get another blatant duck and 100 discussions about when exactly Golovkin became the lineal champion.

Trout fought them both and when asked he couldn't name a clear favorite. He said it's either Canelo knocks Cotto out early or the fight goes to distance with Cotto looking like the better boxer. Anything can happen if it goes to cards. But if Lara couldn't pull off a win, I find it hard to believe Cotto can.

IMO this is Cottos fight to lose, as long as he puts on the pressure Canelo wont be able to get away from his combos with his cement feet. Cotto experience with a wider variety of fighters should see him through this in impressive fashion.

Of course Cotton is soft, the man simply CANNOT take a punch after getting pummeled by bricks for 10 rounds straight. No man would be.. after that fight Cotton's punch resistance became so bad that he got pummeled and beat by Clottey, beat up and knocked out by a midget, outboxed and almost got knocked out by Floyd May weather at 154 with clown gloves, and then finally getting out hustled and embarrassed by Trout.

The sheer fact that he's beating up world class middle weights and making Bummyluvkins career into a joke is simply a thing to behold. The man has my respect.

I honestly think cotto is the better boxer of the 2. also, in the power category I think its almost even with canelo having a slight edge, but not by much. I have noticed canelo gases after the 1st 4 to 5 rounds, if cotto can get past these first few rounds I see canelo getting into trouble. he wont be able to take rounds off against cotto. cotto and roach know this and will take advantage.

Cotto can win but it won't be easy. Cotto under Roach has the right approach to beat the immobile Canelo, question is can he execute the game plan. If he can establish his jab, keep moving and minimise Canelo's opportunities to counter he can win on points.

I giving the slight edge to Cotto as he has the style to win.
