Cotto-Marg - the size difference!!!

Styles make fights and IMO Margarito is a BAD style for Cotto. I think Margarito wins a one sided but very entertaining fight for how ever long it lasts.

 

Height is going to work against Margo in this fight. First even though Margo is tall he doesn't fight tall and second his long lean body is going to provide Cotto with a big target for his bodywork.

 

The question should be, has Cotto ever fought anyone as big, as brute and as tought as Margarito?

Not to be an ass or anything.. But haven't you noticed that just about every person that Cotto fought at 147 was bigger then him???? :think

The Skill difference will be far more important than the size difference, Cotto by wide UD or late stoppage.

All Tito Time said was that they are bigger than Cotto. Cotto who is 5'7". So he wasn't saying anything off base.

Cause I know that you are not ridiculing Cotto's resume and trying to say that Margo's is better

 

People should know better to say size is an advantage, particularly when the other fighter is more skilled. What good is it to be big and strong without skills. Cotto's skillset is leaps and bounds beyond Tony's.

I'm not saying Marg is a scrub, but he is not on Cotto's level. Marg has made his name by beating C and a few B level fighters. I'm not one of the people who uses Tony's 5 losses against him b/c they mostly came early in his career. I think he only lost due to his lack of amateur background.

However, you cant take away from Clottey making Marg look terrible. You cant take away from the fact that a very weak P Williams with no power at all kept him at bay with weak punches. You cant take away the fact that he loss to a TERRIBLE santos.

Cotto is far superior to all of these fighter and is superior to Marg in ever way possible, except chin.

It's just my opinion, but Cotto takes this a lot easier than people think.

 

Stays in shape being a gym rat. Similar how Hops was able to keep his between fight weight low as well.

 

You are really exaggerating how much better Cotto is than Margarito. As far as I recall, Cotto has been staggered numerous times and very badly hurt. And he has been extended rounds by guys like Urkal who we thought he'd KO easily. He doesn't have this supreme defense and his footwork is still developing. He doesn't have a monster punch on the backfoot (at least from what I've seen) and he seems genuinely troubled by guys who press him.

I can understand saying that Cotto is a *bit* better technically but no exaggeration please. He's been tagged by fighters inferior to Margarito.

 

Urkal is a decent fighter but how is he underrated?

Tszyu was also not a technical genius. What made him elite was his crushing right hand.
