Cotto, Margarito and boxing's money punch: the left hook to the body!

    Key weapon in this fight. Whether it's going to be the finishing blow or just the decider who can take more or who can land it and defend it is a very interesting question. But we're gonna see dozens of body blows this weekend!



    Miguel Cotto made the left hook to the body boxing's money punch. He places the shot so perfectly that it maximizes the pain and damage when lands. No matter who great is your chin and how big is your heart, it's a shot you would not like to take many times.

    Antonio Margarito is a fine body puncher as well, just ask Kermit Citron, who's got knocked out badly by the money punch. Like Cotto, he lands it with full body weight behind it. Unlike Cotto, who carefully selecting his punches and lands the body shot when there's an opening, Margarito creates an opening with dozens of head shots and lands on the body when they're covering up. Damage is done both ways.

    IMO we can expect this shot to be the decider this Saturday... but can the left hook to the body be the finishing blow in THE BATTLE/LA BATALLA? That's this thread about!

    true, nice presentation, creepy avatar though. Margo's boby punch to Cintron looks painfull as hell.

    I don't think Cotto is gonna brawl too much in this fight, he will fight an 'in and out' style all night. I expect him to win a UD.

    The left hook to the body is going to be more of a factor for Cotto in this fight. He throws a better hook to the body and he should have plenty of chances to land it on Margo's long lean body.

    Margo will have more success with right hands over the top and uppercuts.

    The body shot that Cotto gave Quintana sounded like a shotgun blast. That was brutal.

    Depending on how the fight progresses, the body punching will either be a big factor or non-factor.

    :lol: Did you see a picture of Quintana's back after that shot? He had a pure black and blue bruise the size of a baseball from that shot...Absolutely ridiculous.

    That's what I'm wondering about, how will Cotto handle the body shots Margarito will land and how will Margarito handle Cotto's body punches. Some interesting questions all to be answered in this fight.

    Both are good body punchers, but I think Cotto's shots will hurt Margo a lot more than Margo's will hurt Cotto.. Cotto delivers some brutal body shots and he seems to take blows to the body quite well too.. We'll see on this Saturday for sure though..

    LOL Cotto's body punches against Rocky Martinez, Demarcus Corley, Ricardo Torres etc.. Are serious. Even his body punching in his first fight versus Jason Doucet was great.

    Look where cintron is when the punch lands look where quintana is. I rest my case, Margarito cant get off unless you are backed in a corner. Cotto has the accuracy to nail you anywhere.

    Both fighters looked ripped at the weigh-in. But you can't prepare for the body shots, it's not a matter of heart... I say: expect some really painful body shots tomorrow!

    Hell... and given Cotto's and Margarito's size, a normal Cotto hook is almost a body shot in this fight! :good
