Cotto-Margarito: If the fight lasts less than 3 full rounds...

Personally if I was to put money on someone getting stopped I would put it on Cotto. But if I was to put money on some getting stopped with in three rounds I wouldn't pick Margo to win. I would assume that with both fighter's styles that this fight will end in a late-mid round or late round stoppage and that the stoppage would be mostly due to fatigue and an accumulation of punishment (in which case I'd favour Margo). But if the fight were to stop early I would assume that it would be due to one opponent being hit clean, repeatedly, and with in a short period of time. In which case I favour the more skilled fighter: Cotto.

I can see why people would be picking Cotto because of howmany times he has been rocked early. But I don't see him catching any wide **** early in this fight. I just don't see margo having the speed to trouble him that way. Margo will do his damage but it will have to be done over a longer period of time.

 

I can't see Cotto stopping Margarito, but I can see Margarito stopping Cotto. This is a toss-up fight.

 

Okay Guys, As is evidenced by my avatar Cotto is my favourite fighter active today. He got rocked against, Torres, Corley, Judah and Mosley. You can get rocked or stunned or whatever you want to call it and still be able to fire back. I would caution the critics to watch the Judah and Mosely fights though because its not like he was on quire street. Cotto has a better chin at 147 then he did at 140. But honestly its not all that great. I would say that its one of his biggest weaknesses. He makes up for it by having the ring intelligence to react well when hurt. Doesn't mean he's not hurt though.

He will be hurt against Margo. But Margo is too F'king slow to capatalize on this early. Later in the fight is a different story.

 

Agreed. But with Cotto's questionable whiskers, I think Margarito will be able to get him late.

Although, if he gets the right shot in and puts him on ***** street like Corley and Torres did, it could end early.

 

Cotto said he is planning to win on points. He said he doesnt have to knock him out so I will have to go with Margarito.

I'm picking Cotto to win by KO10 but if it does end in 3 I would suspect it would be because Cotto got caught, nevertheless I don't see that happening
I would also be very disappointed no matter the winner if it ends in 3 rounds or less

 

My pred. is Cotto by SD. This is gonna be a slugfest.
