There was only ever one reason that Cotto and Margarito got calls Clottey didn't. Those two have large consumer fanbases in Mexico and Puerto Rico. Ghana does not - and that's not going to change - and neither will Clottey's opportunities at large.

Clottey is nowhere close to Pac, but for example, Pac has a huge fan base in the US alone, Clottey could've had a solid fan base in the US just like other non American fighters do, he just was never given the chance!

I agree that his nationality is hurting him...

But the fact that his nationality is stopping him from getting the fights he truly deserves is ****ing disgusting. He should have fought Margo in a rematch before Cintron. He should have fought Cotto before Gomez punk ass!

I don't see how anyone can rank Margo, much less Cotto above him right now. He and Cotto have common opponents, and he fared better against both of them.

    Arum is a weasel!

I fancy Clottey to beat any of them to be honest. Mayweather is the only one to pose him problems but his size and strength are significant.

He was on his way to an easy easy UD over Margarito till he injured his and couldn't fight.

    Pitiful is''nt it?

You would think that those who love the sport enough to post about it, would respect it enough not to make fun and humiliate a fighter when he loses.

Boxing is an unforgiving sport inside the ring.....pitiful that those of us who dont climb one, make fun of those who do!:-(

Clottey is part of Top Rank team simply because it's much easier for Arum to keep him away from his money-making WWs.

Cotto's return should've been vs. Clottey, but Arum knows pretty well it's a fight a recently knocked out Cotto can easily lose.

Clottey is a great fighter, a cool guy but has no fanbase, charisma or very exciting style. He's a nightmare for any promoter, so you better have him in your team than in the competition's.

Kind of like the Modern day Juan Manuel Marquez......he wont get his chance until there are no other fights to be made!

Arum is definately a weasel. He opened the post fight press conference on Saturday by giving a long speech about how it didn't matter that Margarito got obliterated. This was all obviously aimed at the Margarito/Cotto rematch he intends to go through with regardless of the opposition, and his own private overblown bank roll.

They did try and get him that showcase with Judah, and they have Clottey because they want to do stuff with him - supposedly anyway. You're right though, he needs to be given every opportunity possible.

I think Margo losing really helped Clottey. I'm not so sure that a Cotto/Margo rematch will happen now. And despite the loss, Margo is still a dangerous fighter. Not many people will lining up to fight him. A fight between Clottey and Margo makes perfect sense at this time. It would give Margo a shot to get another title, and it would give Clottey a chance to raise his profile.

It's simple really. Cotto has wins over Mosley, Quintana, and Judah. Margarito has wins over Cotto, Cintron, and Clottey himself. The only top rated welterweight Clottey has beaten is Judah.

Clottey can fight Berto next, that would be a good fight. Maybe try to gather all belts then fight for Mosley's WBA after it.
