Cotto: Margarito should not be allowed to fight

This (Cotto statement) is straight to the point. Margarito had to know what was going on.
You bet you know when there's something in a wrap - make no mistake about it. Any good fighter knows how his fist feels wrapped, gloved and anything in between.

Ask anyone who's boxed and modified their wraps i.e. pads, guards, knuckle protectors, etc., - usually due to sore knuckles/metacarpals, etc.- you can feel it and you damn sure feel it with the first solid punch you land.

You don't know that his gloves were loaded either. The California Commission also said the same thing about the gloves for the Mosley fight. Until Nazim Richardson an "experience Boxing Manager" found the problem. The entire US boxing commission needs to pay for this as well. Who knows how many fights Margarito fought with loaded gloves. Thanks to there incompetence.

Look nobody is saying that all of his wins are with loaded gloves. But when you consider what happened its only natural to question his win over Miguel Cotto. It would be naive not to.

Yes, apparently from what Dan Rafael said he is looking at a different matchup this summer and is not interested in fighting Mosley.

 

He also said this:

intend to stake my claim as the best welterweight in the world in 2009. I want to prove to everyone that I am the best welterweight in the world. Mosley and Margarito have their own problems, they have their own issues. They have to respond to that. All I know is that I’m ready to fight. They’re adults, they know what they did, whatever they did, I’m just going on with my career. There are plenty of good fights out there for me to demonstrate how good I am at welterweight.”

Which makes me beleive he is looking for an excuse not to fight Mosley again. Not sure why he is trying to group Msoley and Margo together...

 

Shane Mosley:

"As boxers we just stick our hands out and let the trainers wrap our hands. We don't know what's going on. We're concentrating on the fight, NOT the hand wraps."

 

By Who?? Margo? I think Margo's best days might be behind him. I mean he took an ass whipping by Shane and being out of boxing for 1 year might not do him any good at all. I bet that if Cotto-Margo II happens Cotto would beat him the next time around.

 

How is he looking for an excuse not to fight Shane again when he says he wants to be the best 147 fighter in the division. That road leads thru Shane. He knows that and that fight will happen.

 

I'm reading it as, there are plenty of good OTHER fights out there for Cotto other than Mosley and Margo. And also going off what Dan Rafael reported that Cotto is not interested in fighting Mosley and is looking at some other matchups this summer. I hope he does fight him again though, i'd love to see it again.

He needs to fight Shane. Period. **** that. Shane has earned a rematch with him by beating Mayorga and beating Margarito to a ****ing pulp. Did you guys not see the fight? **** those handwraps. Shane whipped that boys ass.

Cotto needs to step his game up and fight Shane. If not he needs to stop avoiding Clottey and Williams. Anything else is chicken**** posturing and Bob Arum type games.
