Get your head out of the sand already. Pw has not fought at 147 in his last three fights and last I checked he is a champ at 154. Cotto is not avoiding Shane and that fight will be made in '09. Clottey should fight Berto to get a shot at the two top fighters at 147.

I have the greatest of respect for SSM but I do not think this applies to all boxers.

Even if a fighter closes his eyes during the wrapping, he'll know that something is in the wraps the moment he starts punching something (like focus mitts) during the warm up. Don't believe it? Try it! The feel of the impact is usually very different when using (what we called in the old days "knuckle pads"). I'm sure there are other 'old timers' or fighters who have had sore hands on ESB that have used them before(?)

Most experienced fighters are very picky about how they like their hands wrapped and pay rapt attention during the process even if it's the same guy who wraps their hands day after day. They almost have to as the hand position (open vs. closed fist) changes during the wrapping procedure.

I know there is more than one way to wrap a hand, but usually, the hand is open when wrapping underneath or thru the finger area and closed when going over the back of the hand or knuckle area. Most boxers that I've seen watch carefully so that they can change the hand position as the gauze or tape is applied.

"All I know is when everybody gets their hands wrapped, they know what's in them," Cotto said. "They know if there's something in their hand wraps or not. As a fighter, you know if there's something in there."
