WE all hope that Floyd fights the winner and I think he will .... However what if for whatever reason Floyd doesn't fight the winner ? Who will the winner of Cotto-Margarito face ? Cotto ? He already destroyed Quintana, Judah, and beat Mosley 7-5 on my card I guess he could rematch Mosley ..... Cotto fighting Paul Williams would be nice but he's already been conquered by Quintana and I think Quintana is going to school him again in July ! Berto is too green he'd get his career ended within 5 rounds ..... Collazo would be a slaughter too ...see Collazo-Mosley and Collazo-Hatton even though he beat Hatton it wasn't by much on my card. Clottey ? Cintron ? Cintron gets destroyed ... Clottey I am thinking would be an excellent fight for either Cotto or Margo Clottey already gave Margo a scare ! If Margo wins he has to fight Quintana, Williams, and Mosley
Margarito has fights against Mosley, Quintana, Judah (if he beats Shane) and a rematch with Williams that he could get to buff up his resume. Cotto has noone else but Floyd at this point.
If Cotto wins, he should get Mayweather, but if not, then Clottey, AND THEN he should definately get Mayweather.. If Margo wins, then I'd say a rematch with Paul Williams and then Quintana..
Cotto is ALREADY deserving of Mayweather. And if Margarito beats Cotto, he's the logical choice. All this "He needs to beat blah blah and blah..." are bull****.
i can see cotto beating margarito and oscar beating floyd then by the end of the year oscar getting annihilatedby cotto for his farewell fight.thats all folks!!!
I don't know if Mayweather can even be shamed into fighting Cotto. I think he will either officially retire before fighting Cotto, or he will retire and then wait until Cotto retires before making a "comeback." Either way, I don't think Mayweather wants any part of Cotto.
a few things can happen. If Cotto wins, but Floyd declines...the best thing to do would be to unify the division to show what a real champ is supposed to do. If Floyd still declines, then Cotto could either retire or further test himself in a higher weight class. Even if he lost in that effort, he would still be considered a great fighter and would lose no respect, much like Tito did. If Margarito were to win, then he would most likely be forced to rematch Cotto immediately. If in that case, he defeated Cotto a 2nd time, then he would be legit and could then proceed to unify.
