I had margarito by decision. His inactivity needs to be questioned and his eye. Since he was banned he has had a fight in mexico and pac who dealt him that injury. Cotto hasnt looked great against recent opposition who have not been exceptional.
Cotto late TKO(eye) or UD. However, it would be BADASS if Margo won, losses his eye and retires with a pirate patch on his eye :scaredas:
Cotto by UD. Margo 'aint **** without his plaster, but you must admit he's one tough SOB. Hard to put away, and he just keeps coming no matter how hurt.
Miguel Cotto by late stoppage. Reasoning? Margarito may not have been wearing illegal handwraps when they fought the first time, but I think he's been through too much over the course of the last two years to win this one. Will he able to weather Cotto's best shots again? Perhaps early on, but I see him slowing down as the rounds ware on. He's taken some ridiculous punishment in recent times, notably against Pacquiao and Mosley. I believe his punch resistance to have suffered as a result. He moves even slower than he used too. Cotto will land at a very high percentage which will force a stoppage late on, in my opinion.
I was a big Margarito fan going into the last fight, but have to admit for the first 4-5 rounds Cotto amazed me with what seemed(to me) previously unseen skills. He was bobbing and weaving and coming out of crouches brilliantly.I have to admit I thought Margarito was on the wrong end of a masterclass. However, this looks to me like Marquez-Pacquaio in that it looks like Margarito's style is tailor made for catching up with Cotto. The only thing that might be different is if Margarito is suffering the effects of Father Time and doesn't have the same fire and predatory instincts.I always liked Cotto but was a particular fan of Margarito after being advised to look out for him right after the Golden Johnson fight. He really didn't get exposure in the UK till Cotto and I thought his time had come after a hard apprenticeship.Got that wrong! My pick would be Margarito on points after a closer fight but do any of us know just how much he has left?Wouldn't feel too bad if Cotto proved me wrong.
I think Cotto might edge a decision but will be beaten up down the stretch. In the last fight it went 11 rounds and Margarito was younger and before the Mosley and Pacman fight, yet now Cotto was beaten up by Margarito and Pacman. Cotto has the title and I think starts well but again does his outboxing as he is being beaten a little as he backs up. It was an odd fight the first fight. Cotto was always moving back and Margarito so strong, yet Cotto faster hands. Unless Margarito is totally a washed up fighter it will be grueling for Cotto again. Cotto could try and force Margarito back, but I don't think he has the physical strength to do what Mosley did. If he can avoid moving back all the time he could stop Margarito. I doubt he could.
Cotto should have kept his mouth shut and not stirred the hornet's nest (Margarito). Now a pissed off Margarito is even more motivated and is going to do his best to shut Cotto's mouth and erase any doubt that lingers over their first fight. Margarito by TKO11th.
