I was surprised it was PPV. I did not want to shell out for this, or for Canelo-Angulo, but of course I did in the end. Also, it always amuses me the number people on here who watch fights on crappy internet streams or worse and claim to be able to score a fight accurately.
I think they have to start ad******g the prices of certain ppvs. This should have been 30 to 40 bucks. Alot more people would buy it and they would probably up up with the same amount in the end(20 plus million). I'm all for fighters making money but this economic model of giving a guy 7 million and getting this crap of a return is not functional.
Thing is this fight was available on Argentina Channel 7 Free Major Network Public television that is available here in the states, so who exactly was gonna pay for it when it was legally available here in the states. Commentators were in Spanish live from Buenos Aires and sure commercials in between rounds in Spanish. So why buy PPV?
PPV should be cheaper for a start i really feel for you guys in the US having to pay between 60-75 bucks for ppv fights, i got the fight for 12 quid on Boxnation plus a bunch of other action for the month, even Froch Groves i bought was €22 i think compare that to 75 bucks you guys are being robbed. To many ppv's as well Canelo vs Angulo ppv **** that **** should have been on regular Showtime, Also didn't they plan to have Broner vs Maidana ppv just shows the kind of **** that is being made or considered to be ppv. Only superfights should be ppv and the price should be at the highest 50 bucks, 30 for some fights. Even not all Pacquiao or Mayweather fights should not be ppv, Rios should not have been a ppv, Maidana, Gurrero same deal terrible fights. Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Pacquiao vs Khan, Mayweather vs Porter, Mayweather vs Khan Canelo vs GGG, Canelo vs Cotto, GGG vs Cotto, Froch vs GGG these are the only fights i'd see myself buying on ppv atm.
These PPVs are getting way too expensive and are happening way too frequently. A few years ago, you had like 3 or 4 a year and they cost around $60. Now they are over $70 and it seems like there's one every month. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, and now Alvarez all fancy themselves as PPV only fighters and they all want to fight between 2-3 times a year. Between the 4 of them, they will be responsible for 9 PPVs this year.
This was a better fight than Mayweather-Maidana on paper and in real life. Shoulda sold more. Also better than Pac-Bradley 2. But what can you do.
god that was the worst....i bought it cause my girl at the time would watch fights with me all the time...and she loved bernard......so i bought it and couldnt help but feel like id just been robbed after that one
It was a disgrace to sell that fight as a PPV event. Sergio should not had a clean bill of health to fight. Insiders know he was gone. He shouldn't of been allowd to carry a PPV card.
haha....reach much? pathetic its a good thing to be able to drop like that and still make money.....whens that other guy ever done 2.2-2.4 ppv buys?
I'm not bothered by this fight being a ppv. It was two big names. I'm bothered by stuff like canelo Angulo, PAC rios, Floyd ghost. Those opponents are not ppv worthy.
I'm curious how do Manny Pacquiao promotions and Miguel Cotto promotions end up making their money from a night like this.
