    Quality response mate.

I agree with you, I think Cotto would be able to land his jab and inevitably land his hooks to the body. Martinez does have a footspeed and likely a handspeed advantage, so did Foreman, and I am not saying Foreman is as good as Martinez, I say that stylistically the faster boxer have struggled with Cotto's style.

This is quite an interesting fight for me, I have followed the sport intensely for many years, and this would really get me going. I'd say it's a pick em fight, but I think that, like you said.. if Cotto finds that body, the older Martinez would be slowed down remarkably.

6'3 179 LBS Who can't box for **** .. I think you need to do somemore homework on the sweet science ..Since when is a fight won on physical advantages ?? Martinez would have his hands full with a boxer who is as well rounded as Miguel ..

on fight night he looked flabby, 154 isn't his weight, he still can achieve alot at 147. martinez is too slick for cotto at that weight, i would have liked to see cotto to go 12 to see if he got over the stamina problems he had against clottey and pacquiao, but i'll settle for the KO.

cotto vs margarito/berto/williams at 147 would be good fights.

Let them fight and see. If Cotto manage to beat Martinez, this will be the fight that manage to put Cotto in to the Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, i can't see anything other than Martinez victory here. Martinez would have a bit of trouble with Cotto's jab at first, but once he settles, he'd land those southpaw right hooks and straight lefts with relative ease.
That is the least winnable fight for Miguel outwith Mayweather and Pacquiao in my opinion.

Not me unfortunatley , i think Martinez stops Cotto , and i wanna see Cotto in hand picked fights @54 or Berto @47 , Cintron in Puerto Rico makes sense , but Cotto has given us a lifetime of excitement , i only wanna see good things for Cotto until he bows out now .

    Cotto Berto

Martinez Margarito @54 for me !!!!!

    Or Williams Martinez 2 @60 ..............

the argument that Cotto v. Martinez = cotto too small etc is the same as Martinez vs pavlik = Martinez too small

I'm not comparing Cotto to Pavlik but isn't Cotto a little bit like an undersized Pavlik...

    Good God NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cotto is a blue chip prospect who shone brightly at AMA level on the world stage before repeating this in the pro ranks .

Pavlik is a 1 , 2 fighter who only moves forward and backwards and is very limited , Cotto has a full array of boxing / punching ability , the man is way way better than Pavlik , P4P ofcourse ............

From what i've seen Pavlik is one dimensional. He relies on a 1-2 combo, and for someone regarded as a "pressure fighter" his ability to cut the ring down is poor.
Compared to Pavlik i'd say cotto is 3-D.
Miguel has good footwork, cuts off the ring, a great jab and from last night, excellent ring generalship. He is also capable of very good body punching, showed a nice left uppercut last night, can box on the backfoot, and has even gone southpaw at times in his career (see Judah, Quintana, etc).
Thus, they are totally different animals.
