Im dying to see what they were. I googled it and found something that said 100K but i dont know. That seems almost way too low. Are boxing fans getting smarter?
Ha Yes!!! It must be true then. Take that Arum. So supposedly they did a little over a mil at the gate and even if they did 100k at 50 a buy thats 5M. So possibly 6M was made total and thats assuming it was 100K which doesnt even sound likely. I would love to know the purses of the fighters. 100k sounds like a losing event financially.
i think arum knew it would flop, the man has been promoting for decades, he knows what the fans want and dont want. the fighters purses tell you how much faith they had in the ppv.
It was originally 500k but i think DK sued him and he kept the majority of that. So with the undercard fights and the extra expenses i can imagine Arum is extremely pissed at HBO. I might have contemplated going to my rents house and watching it there. I dont think they rented it though. They knew it was crap too.
I didnt buy the fight but have seen it and quite enjoyed it. Not sure how id feel if id spent $50 on it. What's the story behind King robbing Mayorga of basically his whole bloody purse?
Sued him i believe after Mayorga tried to fight MMA. I think he still had some sort of rights over his fights and he did not approve of his MMA scheduled fight.
Didnt Arum only put it on PPV because he was beefing with HBO? I think they wanted it on HBO after dark / non PPV HBO and Arum threw a hissy fit when they gave that date to Sergio.
no hbo didn't want it at all so arum was gonna do a independent ppv until showtime decided to pick it up but then for some reason showtime decided to put it on ppv.
