Bigger , stronger and hits harder is not a skill and that is something Cotto lacs .. you guys just don't get it. Floyd out classed Zab with out taking any damage coming back , where Cotto took plenty of shot and was almost KOed. But cotto KO over Zab makes you guys over look the fact he get hit way too much, and make too many mistake because he relies way too much on his punching power. again a mistake floyd would exploit. Floyd just proved that it take more then a devastating punch to the body to deal with him .. How many time does this example have to seen before you guys get it. Coralles , castillio , manfredy , Nudo , Gatti , hatton , Chavez have all proven that punching power alone will not do it , you need a good A game to beat Floyd , and cotto like hatton has not done anything to prove he has one. but Im game I hope the fight happens just to see the excuses.
I couldn't agree more. Every time people say this and everytime they are proven wrong. I guess they'll never learn.:-(
If you watched any of Cotto fights or the Hatton fight last night, I don't think that you would make this kind of a statement. First of all, Hatton had a 6 inch reach disadvantage. Second, Hatton didn't use the jab which is something that Cotto uses VERY WELL, (for reference, ask Sugar Shane). Third, and most importantly, Cotto USES ANGLES instead of using the straight ahead approach that Hatton used. VERY NOTICABLE differences. Not only that, but Cotto finds distance, is reluctant to hold, and throws more combinations. His best punch is also his left hook, but he's more than capable of throwing good left uppercuts. Considering that Mayweather leans to his right and down where the only punch that can hit him is a left hook/left uppercut, Cotto's attack would be incredibly effective. Two DIFFERENT fighters. Reasess yourself.
I gotta go, but read my statement and watch more fights than PBF. Cotto is a different fighter than Hatton. Floyd won't walk through Cotto. He'll take a beating, and that's why he's reluctant to fight him. He may win, but who wants to be retired by a fighter. There is PRESSURE, and there is INTELLIGENT pressure. TWO completely different types. One uses a jab and angles, the other goes straight into a right hand.
So you finally decided to show your face? What happened to your prediction? So much for PBF being a runner huh? He Koed your boy Ricky. You will learn to listen to me when I talk about boxing.:deal
There are a lot of people on this board who are naive or blind or don't know a damn thing about what goes on in the ring.
My boy isn't Ricky. My boy is anybody that shuts Floyd's disrespectful mouth. I said that Ricky would beat him on heart because Floyd disrespected him. Could I see it happening, no, but I wanted to. I'll never root for Floyd. He's too disrespectful. But yeah, you don't know what the **** you're talking about when it comes to Cotto.
No Cotto is much better and would give PBF a better fight. I just don't want to hear that PBF can't handle power and pressure bull**** anymore.
Forrest is no longer an elite fighter. I want to see Mayweather fight Cotto, but I respect a fighter who knows when to call it a day. When you lose the hunger you get knocked out! Just ask Roy Jones Jr.:dead I think Mayweather is going to take time of as the hype for him to fight Cotto builds. Then mid 2008 the rumble will be on with Mayweather winning a UD. MONEY$$$
Hatton doesn't figh like Cotto.. Hatton bull rushes and wrestles, lands punches in the clinch and likes to fight out of the clinch to do work. Its like a reverse Ruiz style that is focused on wrestling and landing punches on the way out of a clinch and into it. He has good power, but relies as much on sapping and taking the legs away from wrestling as he does his punches.. Cotto on the other hand is a bonafide body snatcher. He mixes up punches and commits to the body. His style is just about flawless, the only thing I wonder about, as far as Cotto is, well Cotto. You arent going to be able to pull the thing he did against Mosely for the last couple rounds and get a nod. I seriously wonder if Cotto is capable of being a pressure figher for 12 rounds without having to back off, be for surviving, or whatever reason he did what he did against Mosely.. Fighters need to realize, the best defense against Mayweather is making Mayweather go into his own defense and keeping the pressure on. Trying to out box Mayweather is what would get a fighter like Cotto knocked out. Also, I'm not sure Cotto's style would be effective against Mayweather either.. Hatton takes all the distance away, forces you to fight in a phone booth and wrestle. Cotto leaves distance, tries to set up punches with other punches, which is more traditional.. Very effective, but you can bet Mayweather would already have a strategy cooked up for this style. I have questions as to why Cotto did what he did the last few rounds against Mosely. Thats the last thing he should do against Mayweather.
Mayweather would probably beat Cotto, but Cotto would definetly have a better chance than Hatton ever had.
