I think there is a decent chance of this going the full 12. A few reasons: -Mosley has never been KOed, and he's been in with some big punchers -Cotto, for all the questions about his chin, knows how to survive when he's hurt -Mosley's not the big puncher at 147 that he was at 135. -Mosely may decide his best chance of winning is to box Cotto, not giving Miguel the chance to land that big left hook. Granted, if either guy ends up being counted out, I wouldn't be surprised either. Which way are you leaning? (KO or D)
I suspect it will probably go twelve, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if either fighter was stopped late, or even if Cotto was stopped fairly early. If Shane pounces on him, he COULD score an early stoppage, but time will tell.
I agree with you here. I know they both hit hard but like you said Cotto survives, and Mosleys got the granite chin. I think a lot of people will be surprised to see it go the distance. My official pick is Cotto UD Mosley, although I would love to see Cotto TKO 9-11.
I think this will go the full twelve rounds too. In my opinion Mosley will win this fight, he's a clever fighter and will have a good game-plan. He's in shape, still pretty fast, and he probably will box Cotto. It wouldn't be smart to slug it out with Cotto in the middle of the ring, so Mosley will move a lot. Of course Cotto will have his moments, since he will pressure Mosley the whole fight, but Mosley is experienced enough to handle that. Cotto is good, but he's never been in the ring with somebody on Mosley's level. Watch for Mosley to land some big counter-shots that will demand Cottos respect. I think it will be Mosley who breaks down Cotto in the second half of the fight, and not the opposite. Cotto has enough heart to last the distance though. Mosley wins by clear UD over Cotto.
The ring at MSG was recently replaced; does anybody know the dimensions of the new one? The old one was quite small, favoring a stalker like Cotto. A bigger ring would favor a boxer.
Well this is definitely one of the hardest fights to pick in a long time in my opinion but once again, if I had to put money on it, I would pick Mosley by TKO. There have been several fighters that have stunned/hurt Cotto and if someone like Mosley stuns or hurts Cotto I just don't see him letting that opportunity pass him by. Judah did very well against Cotto in the first 3 or 4 rounds but he gassed out or lost focus or did whatever he always does in fights. Mosley has never gassed out in a fight so I can see him doing as well as Judah did in the first 3 or 4 rounds for the entire fight. Also Mosley has only lost to fighters that were taller and had a longer reach than him...no one has ever out-punched or out-brawled Mosley...everyone that has beat him out boxed him using a good jab. Cotto is shorter than Mosley and I'm not sure about the arm length but it shouldn't be noticeably longer than Mosley's. Also Cotto isn't going to outbox Shane and his jab is nowhere near the same league as Forrest's, Winky's, or De La Hoya's. On the other side of the argument, Forrest put Mosley down twice and Cotto hits a hell of a lot harder than Forrest...Although Forrest set up his power shots with a good jab mixed in, that still doesn't mean that Cotto won't ever land a hard shot in this fight...he will at some point. I also don't think shane has ever fought someone that works the body like Cotto does or has as much determination to get inside as Cotto does. I refered earlier to the fact that Shane has never gassed out, which is true, but he's never had his body worked over by someone as powerful as Cotto. Zab gassed out after 3 or 4 rounds against Cotto, but maybe it wasn't because of Zab's traditional non-focus...maybe it was all because of Cotto's unrelenting non-stop pressure. Did Cotto break down a non-focused Zab or did he break down the same extremely focused Zab that KO'd Cory Spinks in St. Louis? If the latter is what happened when Cotto faced Zab then Mosley could very well be broken down and stopped in this fight. I like both guys so I'm not rooting for either one in particular. ALL I KNOW IS I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS FIGHT!!!!! :good
I think Cotto by UD. I expect it to go similar to the Judah fight where Cotto has trouble with Mosley's speed early but eventually gets worn down. I don't see Mosley getting KO'd though. He has never been KO'd in his career. Mosley is a body puncher as well and he will take some starch out of Cotto as the fight goes along too. Plus, Forrest hit Mosley with a hellacious body shot in their first fight and Mosley managed to survive. I'd be very surprised if there is a KO in this fight.
Just not Mosley's style to simply box and move. He'll be coming forward and both guys are gonna get hit in this one. I am leaning towards Cotto by knockout. At the same time, if Cotto wobbles like he's done before, Mosley will finish him. So either way I'm picking an under-twelve-rounds fight, and my official pick is Cotto.
I think that there is a very good chance the fight will go the distance, however, Mosley is still my pick to win this.
