400K plus.... Great news. Hopefully a lot o them were casuals and new fans because the main event showed great action and I'm sure they'd be back!!!! 2007 is the rebirth of boxing in the U.S!!!!!
I truly hope this is that start of something HUGE for boxing and not just HBO, Bob Arum, GBP and a few elite fighters. What other sport on the planet has this many people spending this much money to watch it on TV? I would say none. It is a double edged sword though, they will possibly expect us to pay for more events, like any corporation they will want to find the point of diminishing returns. Unless they give plenty of good non-PPV HBO and Showtime fights and great shows like 24/7 and the countdowns the fan base will remain stagnant, I hope someone in these organizations has the vision to understand the possibilities these numbers indicate and where everyones best interest lies.
bad news if you ask me, the more fights that do well on ppv the more fights that will become ppv instead of just normal tv. i don't mind boxers being paid very well for what they do, but having to pay $50 for a fight is a joke.
I would like to see fighters getting bigger cut of all money earned, if 80% of earned cash would go to fighters then I wouldnt mind paying for it. More money for fighers = bigger competition, more talent in boxing world. Plus I would like to see those undercard guys get payd more.
