A better question is, Why SHOULD they worry? All Cotto has to do is keep doing what he's been doing, beating top fighters and looking great in the process. Do that and the pieces fall in place as they should. Everyone and their momma knows he's the only logical choice for Mayweather. His being some top draw doesn't change that. If some fighters wants to claim one isn't big enough to pay him what he thinks he deserves, it's that fighter who looks bad. And floyd is plenty good at making himself look bad in the press.
If it weren't for the money i'm sure that the fight would have been held at MSG .How can the Garden compete with the big coorperate machine that is Vegas ? It can't ..Vegas holds no historic value as far as boxing is concerned none !!! Its only used for $$$$$$
In a perfect world, everyone would just fight the best fighters out there and wouldn't worry about money. As a Floyd fan, I think it's his duty fas the face of boxing to put economic issues aside and fight Cotto. However, I know most fighters don't think like that. It is for this reason that Hatton won't fight Witter and why Haye won't fight Cunningham. I don't like it, but it's reality. I would love for my boy Cunningham to be a big draw so that he could get any fight he wants. However, it's not that easy. Cotto has a golden opportunity to become big name in the sport. It is in everyone's best interest for him to become a big draw in the sport.
cotto shou;ld fight in his fanbase of MSG. why ask all the cotto fans to travel all the way to nevada. bernard hopkins recently drew about 4,000 to vegas in a fight that lost millions.
He will become a draw, that's the point. Whether he fights in NY or Vegas. Besides, being some huge draw is mainly beneficial if you want to pick and choose who you face. Cotto looks to be following the mold of Tito, rather then DLH, which is what Floyd seems to want to be.
