I know this thread is old but I feel inclined to mention this anyways.

The reason why they are fighting in Vegas is because of Margarito's support out west. Ideally if Cotto looks good against Margarito then hopefully the Mexicans there will tune in for his future fights.

Of course if Cotto gets plastered then it might backfire.

The MSG is known as the Mecca Of Boxing for all the big fights during the late 50s, and continue thru the 60s, 70s and 80s. Vegas is more about the $$ the hotels and the city can generate as a whole.
