A couple of years ago I would have said you were crazy...

I still think Cotto is too big for Pacquiao but what the hell do I know? I also thought he'd lose in Barrera I, Morales II, Marquez II and De la Hoya. Its a good thing I'm not a betting man since I'd probably be walking around with a cardboard box as a home right now.

    :good

Cotto don't want none of that boy. He gets hit too much, and his defense isn't all that great for a guy as fast as Manny. And his chin? I don't think it's much better than Hatton's.

This is one of the worst matchup that can be made right now for Pac. Not only is Cotto big, skilled and harder hitter, he also does not have a legit belt with him (no WBOgus does not count).

And I am not sure if Cotto has a Hatton-like following in PR either.

In short, to high risk too low reward.

Pac has 4 and only 4 fighters on his radar : JMM, PBF, Mosley and Cotto.

Maybe, just maybe, Arum wants to throw him in against Valero but I strongly doubt it.

    Exactly.

There the only fights Manny Pacquiao should be considering at this stage in his career. I give him little chance against Mosley, but I think he is live with all the other three, and that's no disrespect to Manny. It's an achievement in itself that we can even talk about these possible matchups being competitive.

Cotto's far from guaranteed to beat Clottey but this might be a good fight. Cotto's a beast but Pac is very very fast. As I've said before I see Pac having some early success moving, using his speed but Cotto's more technical than Hatton and would eventually catch & brutally KO Pac.

Arum's just starting the negotiations for the Floyd fight, being clear that Manny has other options for leverage. The Floyd fight is the obvious next one and the money there is not something to endanger with a Cotto fight.

"Yesterday I was lying. Today I'm telling the truth." Arum's full of it.

If Valero can somehow add another belt at 135, or at least beat somebody good like Diaz, Campbell or Guzman then I would like Pac fight Valero before the winner of PBF-JMM fight. This is to give pac's resume at 135 more legitimacy.

Valero is a perfect fight for Pac and it will end up kinda like the way Hatton/David Diaz ended - brutal KO win for Pac.

Valero would be VERY interesting. This guy comes in wide open and would get KTFO.

I don't think they will make this fight anyways, a Floyd fight seems the more likely outcome.
Hey but i don't mind watching this one if they make it.

I would pick Pacquiao to knock him out but I'd rather see Pac a small break by taking a tune-up type of opponent next, in his standards of course, then the winner of Mayweather/Marquez. Far too many big fights after another is not good really, he better save some of the fire and EXPLODE it all out for the Mayweather fight.
