I think Cotto would smash him.

Winning another title at another weight adds to his legacy. Besides, Cotto would never make 140 again.

if both mosley and cotto come in 6 lbs or more compared to pac, they will be too big for him. 5 lbs or less... i give pac a very good chance. hatton was 4 lbs. heavier than pac, 152 vs. 148, in their fight.

and it was manny who dropped jmm 4 times at the lower weights, not the other way around.

Cotto has gone down in too many fights against not always great fighters. Pac's speed and power will give Cotto hell. Not saying Cotto cannot win, but I'd favor Pac against him.

He only went down against Torres and came back and stopped him. He took a knee against Margo, he was never fully dropped. Thats not exactly going down "In too many fights" like you say. Manny was stopped twice at the lower weights by body shots. Cotto's signature punch. Cotto stops Manny late. Too big, too skilled, too accurate a puncher, heavier hitter.

Cotto flirts with K.O too often for my liking. Like when he fought torres, he was in serious danger. Pacquiao always comes out strong and might have more power than torres. However if Cotto survives the early rounds with Pacquiao I can see the fight going in his favour because of his body punching

He was dropped by Torres. And it was more of a push. He was down twice against Margarito and it was because of fatigue.

I don't think Cotto is HOF but he could deal with Zab and Mosley's speed and power, he can definitely handle Pacman at 147. Pacman could not take body shots from Cotto, and he definitely can't outbox Cotto for the outside.

why should pac be the one to go up to 147 to fight cotto? if cotto wants to fight the top guy, he should be willing to go down to 140 or fight at a catchweight of around 143. pac is the one in the driver's seat here and he should rightfully dictate all the terms.

I agree with this, and same goes for Floyd if he wants Pacquiao.
