If no Canelo and no GGG, Cotto ought to face Trout again and avenge his defeat aswell as to solidify the notion that he has indeed impoved under Roach's tutelage.

He's THE champ of the division apparently, he should face Golovkin or vacate. I don't mind if he doesn't want to fight Golovkin as long as he doesn't continue with this farcical "lineal" title reign, sick of this ****.

Aww C'mon how has he earned anything?? He beat a shell of Sergio Martinez who could barely walk. He had to get his corrupt doc to stop the fight against Margarito to save him quitting again. Even though Margarito had only one good eye from round 2. He hardly beat a one legged Yuri Foreman even after Mercante made Foreman fight on to try to give Cotto the chance to KO him. He did beat Rodriguez big deal . The rest he lost.
He's calling himself The World Middleweight Champion its time he proved it :good

I think that Cotto will fight Canelo at the end of this year.

How do you figure? This guy came up the hard way. He's fought a lot of top guys throughout the years. He's built up his brand and he's now one of the biggest fighters in the sport. He's also going on 35 and his career is winding down. When you get to the point where Cotto is at, it's all about making smart decisions. He has a big money fight out there in form of Alvarez. He can still possibly fight the Mayweather/Pacquiao winner. Tim Bradley is an option for him. And of course, you always have Golovkin out there.

This is a guy who fought Margarito when Margarito was at his peak, he fought Mosley when Mosley was still good, he had a tough fight with Torres, he fought Mayweather, and he fought Trout when he didn't need to. At 34 the guy starts looking out for himself as his career winds down and the fans won't to kill him for it. But I guess that's just how it is.

I think the reaction to Cotto is why many fighters don't care what hardcore fans have to say. It doesn't matter what you do in this sport, fans can turn on you with the quickness.

I agree.... just about everyone said a 60% Martinez would KO Cotto....

Martinez came out walking to the ring, not limping.... he didn't limp in the ring either, and Martinez is still trying to find a doctor that will not clear him to fight.... and he hasn't.

The dude won championships at 140, 147, 154 and 160....

That is a lot, if it's so easy, why don't any who are bad mouthing go out there and try it.

Funny how does who defend Triple G saying that Ward is too big for him... are the same people who are calling for Cotto to face Triple G.

Sure, I get the difference that Cotto is lineal champ at 160 but people, it has only been less than a year that he has been champ.

These fighters pay very good money for those belts, and part of that agreement is that they get to fight an interim fight after winning championship.

No one is afraid of no one, these are fighters and it's just business.

I personally do not like Cotto's terminator attitude, and him speaking in third person but.... as a fighter you have to respect him.

    Mayweather respects him....
    Mosley respects him.....
    Paulie M. respects him....

Everyone who has fought him has said he is an animal.....

But you come to a forum and all you hear is biases. Just relax, none of these fighters is afraid of another.... It's business
