I noticed some guy on the forum talking about Miguel Cotto dropping from his 7th place on the list, and then I read this article explaining why. I can't say I entirely agree with the arguments made, b/c we all know how subjective p4p rankings are, but anyway I don't think it's completely nuts to drop Cotto, even though i know ppl give him a lot of credit for his performance against a very good Joshua Clottey and he got cut etc., he did not get a clear win despite being favored and you can also see this in the fans' reaction towards Cotto's performance. I give Cotto more credit than the author though, just thought he had a point to why Cotto disappointed despite his win... here's the link: http://www.ringtv.com/blog/790/ring_ratings_update/ Thoughts...?
I don't agree with it at all but to each his own. This Cotto looked unimpressive and lost **** is getting ridiculous.
It's simple really if you just think about it. The Ring is basically Golden Boy Promotions now. Golden Boy (Schaefer and Oscar) are lobbying hard right now for Mosley to get a fight with Pac instead of Cotto. It's not surprising they dropped Cotto to number nine while Mosley sits at four. They're trying their damndest to make a case that Shane deserves the Pacquiao fight over Cotto.
Yeah get him off the list! Taken on Margarito, Mosley, Clottey, Judah Came away with 3 wins out of 4 No way the guy deserves to be anywhere near a P4P slot atsch
Dropping him down after the Clottey fight is considerably less nuts than bumping him up after he beat Jennings...
I just think that pound for pound lists are a thing of the moment and its really your recenct stuff/last fight that has a bearing on your placement (or absence of it). Anyway he won the other night regardless of the manner of victory
The Ring's ranking have little credibility anymore especially having a guy like Caballero ranked and not Paul Williams.
Like is said before people are underestimating how good Clottey is. Clottey would of dominated Margorito if he didn't break his hand, that shouldn't even be an arguement at all. And the writer like other people fail to realize that the cut Cotto had, effected his ability to execute the way he wanted to.
Pound 4 Pound is fake. It is not real. It is all myth, fantasy and conjecture. It is no different than pro wrestling. It is fake.
