Cotto Plans To Batter Margarito's Bad Eye

I think the eye is his only chance

if Cotto is banking on the he only beat me because of the wraps he may be in for a world of trouble

first Cotto could not hurt or get his attention or slow down his attack

second if Margo didnt wrap and i dont think he did whats Cotto gonna do when he feels the same power he felt in the first fight, i bet he goes in there relying on the fact that he "knows Margo wrapped" so he will be over confident and not expect the same power

that will be a big mental test if that is to occur

 

I suspect that due to the added weight being a big advantage for Tony, Cotto is going to get treated worse than he did the first time. Then maybe he'll finally stop his ridiculous whining.

Plaster my ass Miguel . . . even in your prime YOU COULD NOT HURT THE MAN, and it cost you the fight. Unless you can do something about the concrete in his chin, and the steel in his soul, this is your last professional fight.

 

Has there been any indication that Cotto's shoulder surgery has helped his power at all? I remember an interview with Steward when he talked about it. I just don't remember the timing of the operation.

 

maybe it helped but Cotto's best and very clean shots did nothing

Margarito would get hit and just come right back

Cotto would land 3 or 4 and then Margo would then respond with 1 or 2 that seemed to hurt Cotto more than the 3 or 4 he landed

 

That's why (other than the eye of course) Cotto needs to not head hunt so much this time and tear Marg's body down.

Manny wasn't involved with Cotto until after Pac so I thought the surgery was more recent?

 

Cotto has not been as effective to the body since before Alfonso Gomez

i remember that being the first fight where i was like wheres Cotto's body punching?

however i feel that in order to body punch it would require him to get in close to dig the left hook to the ribs and i feel thats the last place he wants to be in this fight

 

i think it was but what my point was is how much more power is Cotto really gonna gain

i mean Margo took some real punishing blows the same ones that made Judah and Quintana and Urkal bleed bruise and stagger and he kept coming

 

OK. Just checked. He has only had the Mayorga fight since the shoulder surgery. Don't expect Margo to be able to take the same amount of punishment either. I think he may well be a ruined fighter starting with Mosely.

but then again so is Cotto, he is slower, heavier, older now than he was in the first bout

 

I really don't have a feel for how this fight will go. I was just wondering if Cotto's repaired left shoulder would make a difference. Since I really don't know what to expect it makes it an interesting fight for me.
