I said "much harder", not impossible. In California he was allowed to use pre made pads so reaching into the bag and pulling them out was no big deal. Nevada did have inspectors there watching the process too. People that have seen the Nevada procedure first hand say it is unlikely that they could have done the same thing they did in California. If you are going to wager on this fight based on the fact you believe that Margo can only beat Cotto with loaded gloves, that is your choice to make. I try and go with the best available evidence myself.

That is why I said Cotto shouldn't rely on that mindset. He should prepare to fight as if Margarito have the same punching power as their first fight, loaded gloves or not. Imo, the gloves didn't really matter.

A similar situation will arise when Pacquiao and Mayweather finally fights.

it doesnt seem good that he has ran thru trainers like crazy but this guy according to 24/7 is a former Cuban Olympic coach so he must no his stuff and hes used to coaching Ams and that is a lot of jabbing and defense

who knows maybe its a good idea

Manny Steward seems to be a good idea trainer wise

exactly, he lost for many reasons other than the possibility of foul play

Margo's last three fights is all the evidence I need. We'll see. If this inspection criteria is so tight you would have to wonder why Cotto didn't take that into consideration before making the accusation.

Anyway, Next Saturday cant come soon enough. I had to make up an excuse to get of a Christmas party just so I can stay home and watch. Will be a great night I'm sure.

He could have hurt him to the body but he chose to head-hunt and got owned. Plaster or no he was going to win if he had taken the steam out of the tornado like Mosley did

Man, I remember it rather well. NOTHING Cotto did could deter Margo from keepin' on comin' on with it.

If things between them "in the tank" wise are still the same, Cotto might just be ****ed here. (again)

Khan took one of those amazing Cuban coaches before getting KTFOed. Cotto made a big mistake to ditch Steward because he really needs to commit to a sound game plan for this one

Cotto was definately head hunting in that first fight. I'd like to think a strategy with a good bit more body work, and more pivoting and turning Marg (not just slidin' side to side or STRAIGHT BACK until his back is on the ropes), could prove a bit more successful this time.

    We'll be seein' soon enough.

Fighters often fixate on things to explain losses. My favorite was Edison Miranda blaming his loss in the second Abraham fight on his nutritionist. I'm not sure what his nutritionist could have done to blunt the impact of that short right hand though. :D I know you are aware of Pac blaming blood testing for one of his losses.

its a rarity on here usually but the haters and nut huggers seem to be out some where else

some good logical ideas and assessments being tossed around

i like discussing boxing til name calling begins

he really hasnt been as aggressive to the body since before Alfonso Gomez

why i dont know but it seems he hits the body less in most of his fights

him back peddling was a real issue

he needs to circle more and do more subtle foot work

backing out makes you easy to hit and the amount of running he did as Margo poured it on had to have helped tire him

Well, that is why I was wondering about the repaired left shoulder. That was the first fight after. If his left shoulder had been bad for a period of time, it could take more than one fight to get the feel of it back.
