Cotto Plans To Batter Margarito's Bad Eye

I listed six things Cotto would have to improve to win the rematch, but none of those things are his biggest problem. His biggest problem is his obsession with Margarito's hand wraps.

Back when Nazim Richardson, and some other criminal types, made their accusations Cotto's opinion seemed to be 'maybe, maybe not.' As the months, years, and now days passed Cotto became more and more convinced that the accusations were true, and somehow affected his performance when he fought Margo.

However, if there was ever any basis for Richardson's accusations, why did the CSAC conveniently "lose" the knuckle pads just in time to prevent Top Rank from hiring independent tests. If the wraps were in fact tainted, how did that prevent Cotto from being able to hurt Tony or slow him down at any point during the fight? Or, looked at from another angle, how did knuckle pads, tainted or clean, contribute to Margarito's ability to go full throttle for 12 rounds. As far as I know two elements you'll find in most ordinary hand cream can't do that.

Anyone who has been a boxing fan for any appreciable length of time, which is 99.9% of you guys, knows there are hundreds of variables that factor into a prize fight. I think Cotto is a clear underdog in this one, but with all the variables there are no doubt ways he can win. However, right now he is delusional, and just flat barking up the wrong tree.

Cotto should focus more on Margarito's body.

Williams, Mosley, and Pac all targeted the body and had great success. Cotto is a great body puncher. But he neglected going at Margarito's body in the first fight. Instead opting to box and fight outside.

Maragrito can do 24/7 montages with Garcia hitting his body with a stick all he wants. The Pacquiao fight prove no matter what he does. His body is his weak spot.

 

Cotto is going to get another beating. Feel bad for him.

I hope Cotto wins this and Margarito's eye holds up.

I was pumped for this fight but the whole build-up with the eye backdrop and the hand-wraps scandal has been a bit tasteless.

If Cotto loses you have to wonder how it will affect him mentally and if he wins you have to imagine Margarito's eye will take an absolute pounding in the process ..... I hope I'm wrong but it seems like a lose-lose situation here.

I think people are making too much fuss about the eye, and are ready to discredit a Cotto victory by citing it as an excuse.

A broken orbital bone usually has very high success-rate post-surgery. While it might prove a liability, I think it's very unlikely that the same volume and impact can be replicated in any other fight. Pacquiao did a great job landing his left, but Margarito also let his face take unnecessary punishment in the later half of the fight. The bone should be healed, and while his eye looks different, if it were really that bad, it would **** up all sorts of ways in sparring.

Also, Cotto saying he's going to use any advantage he can doesn't mean he's forming some sort of game-plan around his freakin eye.

 

Honestly the eye shouldnt be too big a deal but maybe I can foresee some exaggerated scraping hooks or maybe even some lacing goin on in this fight :deal

Not that I want that to be the case however; its just that eye seems to be a bigger target than a normal eye
