Cotto puts Team Pacquiao on blast

Roach wants Cotto to fight Pacuiao at 143 lb

--Boxing coach Freddie Roach has told Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum that he wants a catch weight of 143 lb for the proposed Nov. 14 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.

“I spoke with Bob and I told him I want it at 143 lb,” Roach told the Manila Bulletin Saturday. “The lower I can get him (Cotto), the better.”-- :rofl:rofl

--Arum, meanwhile, has been informed of what both camps want. Pacquiao is insisting that the catch weight should be 144 lbs, but Cotto wants it at 145.--

So I guess 143-144 is what they wanted, not 142-143. My Bad!

 

Of course Cotto didn't want a catch weight. PAC probably would have preferred Cotto fight at 140....but since both were in TWO different divisions they had to agree upon a weight where BOTH would meet.

I'm not sure what the conversation was between Bob and Cotto but Cotto made no excuses for how he predicted the fight would play out after signing. He was sure at 145....PAC was not winning HIS title at a 7th weight class. The title at 154 may have been dangled in front of Cotto...or it may not have been but the bottom line was Cotto was more than confident in beating PAC and was very vocal about his prediction all the way up to the fight.

 

Cotto wanted the fight. Pacquiao only wanted it at 150. Why doesn't Pacquiao man up and fight a real 154 pounder that weighs 154?

 

I think PAC knows he's not a TRUE 154 pounder and doesn't want the fight bad enough to agree to a Jr MW fight. It's like asking why Cotto won't got down to a catch weight fight the smaller PAC, again? It's not really that big of a deal for Miguel...obviously.

I love all this "Cotto would take a beating again" "He's scared" "he doesn't want any of that again" but if Pacquiao can so easily beat him again why not take the fight at 154? hmmmmm

Well put brother :good The thing with catchweights is that it "evens" the playing field for fights.

The thing is, aren't the best wins about overcoming a disadvantage? be it in size, speed, experience, power, etc?

It's almost like Cotto saying well Pac has to wear heavier gloves because he is faster.

 

Because Manny is small for 147 DOUCHE!! FFS..

 

pac offer cotto a fight and cotto rejected it and manny fought bradley now pac's offering cotto a fight again didn't he get the message the first time cotto don't want the fight at 150. Pac looks desperate to me. I bet after pac fight JMM he will offer cotto a fight again

cotto is not scared of anyone he has fought everyone he's a true warrior and he has no survival mode he fights and goes out on his shield.


He beat margarito in the rematch he put up a credible effort vs floyd and he's a rejuvenated man. He doesn't need to be going down to 147 to fight manny when we all know he loses why take the fight and get a beating for the payday he doesn't need the money he's not short of a million and he's probably gone a get a floyd rematch anyway so he's all good. He's doing nice at 154. If manny wants the fight that bad he'll have it at 154 unless he doesn't think he can win at that weight.

 

Well Cotto was not going to go into the fight saying, "I'm worried about this fight. I'm not sure I can win."

He had to get himself mentally ready and believe in himself, any doubt he had he had to keep it to himself.

 

PAC did offer the fight to Cotto...with terms he wanted. Cotto rejected the fight on the terms PAC offered....PAC didn't act desperate in countering Miguel's rejection. That rematch won't happen, unfortunately for fans....but probably fortunate for Miguel. I don't think it's in the cards that he beats Manny even though Cotto always makes for exciting fights.

Depending on how JMM vs PAC 4 goes we might see the PAC vs Cotto rematch back on the table....but I doubt that fight happens simply because Cotto doesn't want to move down....PAC is only willing to move up so much and the first fight was so one sided that Miguel will not want to give in on anything that might give PAC an advantage...mentally or physically.

To say Floyd is "everyone's first choice" isn't accurate......bigger fighters seem to want Floyd over PAC for obvious reasons and the smaller guys seem to be chasing PAC...for obvious reasons. I don't see much desperation from either one of them at the moment.

Floyd is doing his own thing.....laying low....enjoying life and PAC is doing his normal routine.... Boxing, being a congressman, endorsements....ect.

PAC is on the slide......but so is Floyd. Father time catches up to everyone...some faster than others.
