Izzy did quit, but Marquez is a real monster himself and Izzy fought two rds after you could tell in his corner that he could not breath at all through his nose. He obviously redeemed himself in the next 2 fights though. Cotto was still sticking and moving for several rds after having his nose busted open so I'm not sure how much it was really bothering him. I also don't really think he quit though because his corner threw in the towel. I do think it was probably just a matter of time before he did quit.
I honestly think I could go a round with either, but just ONE round. Maybe a 2 minute round...160z gloves, head gear etc... nah, who am I fooling one body shot and im out. Also, im not knockign Cotto, I gotta lot of respect for him. but Im tired of people in the boxing world not excepting reality. -bert
I agree with your whole post. I have never fought proffesionaly or even sparred with anyone as dangerous as AM.. bUT i dId work and Burger King and I did quit that job in the middle of lunch hour rush. So , i can relate to Cotto. I know quitting. I quit college too.. :good -bert
lol, Ive boxed plenty times (sparred and for fun) and i'll tell you not only do you have to be superbly fit but also have hella wind to dish and take punches. I think i could last 1 rd with either one(thats if i can get on my Huffy and counter for 3min,lol) naw j/k i just dont think people comprehend what it takes to fight as a pro.
Hell some people dont comprehend what it takes to spar for 3 minutes. Ive watched fights with some casual fans and they are like " he isnt even hitting him hard ".. im like "let him hit you"....
I have gotten into the ring. Nothing serious though. Look, I have nothing against Cotto. However, he did quit. He's not a quitter, and I think he made the right move. That still doesn't change the fact that he quit. The problem with this whole thing is that the word quit has a negative conontation. However, the denotation of the word is neutral. Going by the definition, Cotto quit. People are getting upset about this because of the negative conotation associated with the word. Many people that say Cotto quit are not putting him down, they are simply describing what happened. Cotto even came out himself and said it was his decision to stop the fight.
