I don't think Cotto quit, buy i thought i heard Manny say that Cotto told Bayless that he didn't want anymore.

    NONSENSE.

If you criticize him for back-pedalling and running, you know nothing about boxing. That was Cotto's tactics. They worked brilliantly for 6 rounds. If he had went toe-to-toe as you seem to think he should have, he would've been put away far earlier. Margarito's chin is made of titanium, doing anything but what Cotto did would have been playing right into Margo's hands. The fact is the better man won, and no matter what Cotto had done on the night, Margo was better than him and would've won anyway. I think Cotto fought very well and was very very brave. At the end he had took a lot of punishment and had nothing left. Standing up when there is nothing left in the tank to make the empty, pointless, futile gesture of getting brutally KO'd is how people sustain permenant injuries. You are the one who should be ashamed for demanding this from a beaten fighter.

I can't believe this ****. 99.9% of people that are in shape fighters cannot take this kind of punishment. These dumb****s don't even understand the beating Cotto took. Margarito had to throw nearly 1,000 punches to get him out of there. This **** probally just started this thread to get people going cause he couldn't possibly be this stupid.

I see why people have decided to leave this forum and go elsewhere. The posters on here are cruel and idiotic and aren't true fans of boxing in the true sense of the word -- at least some of them aren't. They have no care or thoughts for anyone. Cotto put up a good fight, all he could muster at his level. He just succumbed to someone who he could not break, last against. If his chin was stronger he would've won. If he had better defense (that uppercut i knew was going to be the end of him, he is so open for it) he would've won -- or if he had the necessary stamina. He was lacking these things, either one if he had it, he would've at least finished the fight.

Some of the idiots on this forum really irk me. What is their problem? They want to see a man die in the ring.

Dude, Cotto IS the better boxer which is what won him the first half of the fight. Cotto took tremendous punishment and showed heart to the end. Margo is just too big and his pressure and chin were too much.

Nothing to be ashamed of. easy to say sitting on the couch.

Oof! Margo really did a number on him by the end of that fight. Cotto looks like he's just been beaten by a gang of guys carrying bats. That Margo is one scary mofo.

At least he made a fight with a live opponent - Which IS Better THAN MOST THE F@CKERS EVER DO!

HE LOST - someone had to - Would you rather Cotto went 50 WBO defences undefeated?

Did Cotto's corner throw in towel before he took the knee or after? It seems like after, so he did quit on his own terms. Either way, it was an awesome fight. I feel bad for Cotto.

Cotto fought brilliantly early, great defense and movement, nice precision and combos. Even during the rounds when its obvious the Margarito has hurt him bad, he was showing good form. Unfortunately for him, Margarito is a cyborg sent from the future. There's no other explanation for his apparent lack of ability to feel pain. Cotto should have brought a sledgehammer.

By taking a knee after the assault he was taking does not mean he quit. He took a knee to get to get a breather. He could not breath due to the constant pressure. His corner threw in the the towel. I have seen many fighters take a knee to catch their breath or to recoop. Seconds is an eternity in boxing.

of course he did not quit! he suffered a lot of punishment from margo's heavy hands and the body (of course the head) can only take so much. Mrago won by beating cotto, not because cotto's "quitting."

Yoiur thread only shows that : (1) you dont appreciate good fighters; (2) you dont understand boxing; (3) you've never been into a fight your whole life; hence you don't know what it feels like to be punched and (4) youre a *****.
