Merchant: It is very noticeable that you do not call out Mayweather, you let everybody else call him out for you. Is that what you think is the right way to eventually get a fight with Mayweather?.

Cotto: I cannot promote my career, I am not my manager, i am not my promoter i am just a boxer. Mayweather if he has to fight with me i agree with that, im not scared of anybody.

hes not scared. just shows more respect then a lot of boxers and does not run his mouth. cotto is a great respectable fighter, he does not need to become big headed like mayweather, hence the reason he has no fans

He's afraid of the severe beating he would get from PBF. :smoke

Its respect ... the fans know he's interest and the fans are interest ... he's going to build himself up and wait on Floyd to agree.

He can't call out Floyd and expect him to bite ... Floyd is the best fighter in the world ... he has to fight on Floyd's terms.

Cotto doesn't call anyone out. Suggesting he is scared because he doesn't call out fighters (Not just Mayweather, your boys not that special) is kind of rediculous.

Good point and thats why Floyd said on ESPN that Cotto needs to become his own man and become a CEO ... which makes sense ... he should have his own gym, and have some say in who he fights ... Floyd would never agree to fight a guy like Gomez, Mali, Quintana, or Urkal ...

If Cotto's handlers really wanted to set up that fight (especially Arum) ... would've advised Cotto to vacate that WBA strap after he fought Quintana and had him build himself up to become the number #1 contender for the WBC ... there's no way that Don Jose would not mandate that fight - he would strip Floyd either - it would've also forced HBO's hand because of Cotto's status and world ranking.

Cotto knows that Floyd has no interest in fighting people that have the slightest chance of winning. I think that Floyd would be able to beat Cotto, but it would have some risk, and Floyd does no longer takes risks.

What about Cotto v Gomez ... that was some risk ... it turned out to be the biggest risk of Cotto's career.

Cotto isnt afraid of anybody and he shouldnt be. Anybody who turned on the TV last night knows that Cotto is head and shoulders above everybody in the division.

Cotto looked incredible last night and if he continues to fight like that, hes going to beat everyone in the division and Floyd will be backed into fighting him by the boxing public.

If we see Cotto calling for a rematch against Gomez, THEN we'll have an apt comparison to Floyd.

    That isn't Cotto's style.

By beating Gomez he's head and shoulders above the rest ... by beating some up and comers, journeymen, and gatekeepers -- he's the best.

I don't see Judah or Mosley doing anything significant and no matter who wins a fight between those two ... they're both going to be gatekeepers.

I don't get you ... you don't think Floyd would knockout Gomez?

As much as I love PBF's skills, I think Cotto would win.
