Cotto Says He Eyes 3 More Bouts Before Retirement, Names Canelo & Trout

Thanks! Seemed completely unsure on his future last time I read something about him, glad he's taken time and made a decision. If he's eyeing Canelo and Trout he must think he still has something to offer, which is good.

 

I don't want Cotto to face Trout again. I don't see him beating Austin @ 154. I would still be interested in a Canelo fight though.

Cotto canelo would be a great fight. I woudlnt mind seeing a rematch with crybaby either, he was whooping that ass until he gassed out!

I dont completely rule him out in a TRout rematch.

People seem to forget that it was a tight,tough match.

Eh, it really wasn't that tough man. It was closer than some had it, but Trout realized Cotto(e) couldn't really hurt him (he took some good shots). Then once Cotto(e) started gassing out, it was a whitewash. And gassing against a bigger man like Trout is bad. Especially in a rematch.

 

I don't want to see Cotto in against Trout rematch or Alvarez.

Give me Zaurbek for the WBO title, with a defense against Delvin Rodriguez and then a big retirement fight against Lara or Vanes.

 

Trout is garbage.

My dude is finished. He should have a farewell fight against a lesser opponent in Puerto Rico and call it quits.

 

If he wants to get a crack at ginger, the best way to go about it would be to relieve Ishe Smith of the IBF belt, and then try to get a unification bout with Canelo assuming he wins his next few fights/loses to Mayweather or Trout and is trying to bounce back himself. After that, he should have a farewell fight in Puerto Rico.

Otherwise, he should drop back down to 147. He's too small at 154. I wonder if he can still make the weight comfortably though. I think he can still make 147, but you have to wonder if he really wants to enough at his age. It can't be fun or easy to cut weight the older you are, and perhaps he just doesn't feel like putting his body through that kind of stress anymore :think

 

Cotto is easily a Hall of Famer, IMO. Then again, he's my favorite fighter of this era so I realize there is some bias there.

I really wish he would retire. His run at the top is over and he is between divisions. If he wants a farewell fight, great, but there's no need to try and climb the mountain again. He's already put himself through so many tough fights.
