Cotto scared me a bit on Saturday...here's why...

    For the first time ever, I saw cockiness out of Cotto. The way he was strutting around the ring was completely different than I've ever seen him. Maybe it's because he was fighting Gomez, or maybe it's because he's starting to buy into how great he looks in the ring.

    Either way, that's dangerous. His hands weren't always by his head in the Tyson-esque manner that we're used to seeing.

    Don't get me wrong...Cotto could've beaten Gomez with one hand tied behind his back. But if a fighter buys into his own hype against a Margarito or Mayweather type...especially when in this case that fighter (Cotto) has a suspect chin...It could be trouble.

    Does anyone else see it that way?

    He did seem cocky in the fight but I think Cotto is smart enough to know he can't do that against a fighter like Mayweather. I have no problems with it.

    Yes I witnessed the same swagger....I think it had more to do with the level of opposition his pride and Gomez's pre fight comments.

    I think that he took advantage of the weak opponent to make himself look a little flashier

    i think he knew though that he had it in the bag. I dont think i'd put it down to his nature though, if anything i just think he was hoping Gomez's corner or doctor was going to stop the fight for him.

    i thought this too, i mean the round before it was stopped cotto just moved away from gomez almost letting him get his wind back so he could showcase his skills abit more,cotto could of ended that fight in the 1st round,but he put on a bit of a show,fair play to him doesent say anywhere u dnt have to be cocky during a fight

    I think it's because of who he was fighting. And he wanted to put on a show.

    I agree, but it worries me when a fighter changes the way he does things...

    Cotto was always the simple, straightfaced, destroyer, who went into the fight and got down to business...

    I'm sure it may just be the competition, but it may also be that he just beat Zab Judah and Shane Mosley...Cotto has shown much more confidence because of beating Mosley, but I'm afraid the confidence may be turning to cockiness.

    I was ringside at the Mosley-Cotto and Cotto-Zab fights...Cotto BARELY squeaked by Mosley. It was a close fight with a definitely past his prime Mosley...

    I really like Cotto, his personality, his mentality, and his skill....but I've seen this happen before...The cockiness sets in, and you get caught. I hope it doesn't happen to him...

    like most people are saying it was the opponent in front of him,im almost 100% sure when he fights margo it will be bk to the straighforward destroyer u love:good
